I bought an ikea desktop and if you have done that, you know how light those are. I doubt you can find a lighter desktop anywhere. I have the brackets lag bolted into a joist on each side and the brackets barely hold to the desk up. When I move my arms to grab my mouse, or drink, etc, the whole table violently wobbles. One bracket failed a month later, failing under load less than vendor stated its capacity to be. Broke at hinge and when the shelf fell, the entire bracket fastened to the underside of the shelf tore loose. Since it’s past the return window I am stuck with a shelf that won’t stay up. I’ll have to build my own brackets from scratch.
