The newer the car I think they increased it. But to what I do not know. These winches when under load i think will require more than a cig socket will provide. Read your car handbook and also the manual that came with winch. Fuses are a great thing. **Q: if i buy two to use at the same time - can they be run independently. Ie are the remotes on different frequencies?** A: they have different receivers that will work independent regardless **Q: Hi can this connect to a car battery? How is it powered? Thanks** A: I am using this with a 12 heavy duty battery charged of a solar panel. If you use on a car with a standard battery I suggest you keep the engine running so as not to flatten your battery. I drove a small plant recovery wagon and that is how I overcame the flat battery situation . Hope this helps. It is powered by the cables supplied.
