Which model do ypu get?** A: I got the surface mount. My first one. Use an extremely small tip on soldering iron and some kind of magnifying glass. It can be done. Mine works. **Q: Worked for 20 seconds then quit. Only the central light will now work. Any ideas? Know it's me but can't find an error?** A: I could only get the center light to work. No written directions with kit. No holder for batteries. I didn't expect much and that is what I got. **Q: Will a 9v battery be ok to use?** A: I think it was designed to be used with 3 volts (i.e. 2 double AA) ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Relatively easy practice kit *by D***P on October 7, 2019* I got this windmill kit for soldering. The task wasn't too challenging. The kit didn't come with any instructions. But there is a link to a pdf with instructions on Amazon page. Only instructions they listed is the order of the components to be soldered. You can't really mix up components as there are only one kind of each type of component. They provided more leds than it required. It didn't come with a socket for the IC and I used an old one I had. I also soldered wires for power input instead of the male header they had provided. All in all it was a good practice kit. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fun kit with the kids *by P***R on September 22, 2019* The media could not be loaded. Great electronics kit was fun to assemble with my daughter.As you can see it came with plenty of LED's so I have a few left over for another product.The assembly instructions have to be downloaded from the seller page on Amazon and also they did not tell how to identify the Anode on the LED. If you are new to electronics then this would be helpful.Also you do need a 5V power supply - it would have been great if it had include a USB cable as other projects have this.Also remember that the kit does not come with any solder.Lastly I would have preferred if the Arduino chip had come in a socket, so it could be removed and reprogrammed. this would take the kit to the next level with my kids.Anyway a fun project for a rainy sunday. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great tool for learning to solder *by A***L on December 29, 2020* I was embarking on an electronics project, but I had no experience in soldering small components. I bought this item for me to practice my soldering skills. And it was very useful: If the lights worked, I did everything right. Some of the LED's were defective (plenty of extras were included). So this taught me how to de-solder components and replace them.
