I don't normally read urban fantasy (don't you hate reviews that start like that?), but a friend put me onto it.....and wow.Crake has created a world where gods are everywhere, accepted, even mundane - and she's made it not only believable, but compelling. Her lead, Ophelia, or Phi, is at once sympathetic, full of moxy and totally human(and quite hot if the cover is anything to go by).The story is a total page turner (well, clicker as this is an ebook) and drags Phi, kicking and screaming from downtrodden messenger for the gods to one adventure after the next, creating an amazing collection of worlds and characters, building the engrossing narrative as it does.I don't even know if I'm the target market as the imprint is called "Destiny Romance", but I don't care. The romance was well crafted and kept me guessing (in a good way), but it was by no means the be all and end all of the book.For anyone interested in dipping their toes into a different genre than they're normally used to, or, let's be honest, anyone up for a damn good read - pick this up.Highly recommended. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Twists, turns, and a whole lot of fun *by H***H on Reviewed in the United States on August 23, 2015* Love this modern take on the gods of the Greek pantheon. The way Crake envisages a modern day Hades and Persephone, and Zeus and Hera, is fresh and funny. Definitely some laugh out loud moments there!The main character Phi has a truly 'unique' job that gets her into all sorts of trouble with all sorts of people (or gods, or other beings) who could do her harm, and I loved the twists and turns in this fast paced plot. And finally, the romance; Crake put our emotions through the wringer on the way to the happy-for-now ending to this book, and I can only imagine what the future holds for Phi and Aden... ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Really great read *by B***K on Reviewed in the United States on March 15, 2013* I thought that this was a fresh take in a world full of zombies and vampires.Once I started, I couldn't put the book down, I read it in one day.
