Review: A pillow speaker that can be heard - I am a pensioner but don't wear hearing aids - and it maybe depends on the cd player - but I've tried every pillow speaker I can find, only to conclude that they are all too quiet for me. Then I found this one with an optional in-line amplifier - What a difference! It has a quality feel about it and is powered by a single AAA battery which has so far lasted a week of being on all night - I will probably try it with a rechargeable one in the future but for the moment it is still going strong. A very pleasing purchase if it lasts as long as I do!

I seem to break my pillow speakers every few years, and although my last pair were the BEST ever - they dont seem to sell them any more - and they were stereo as well! This appears to be the best of the bunch still on the market, although it is only mono and the sound quality isnt up to my previous pair. They do appear sturdy though, so hopefully they will last a long time. The volume control is a bit on/off in action, but other than that, they are fine, with enough oomph from my little mp3 speaker to penetrate the depth of two pillows; so I havent had to use the battery option.
