The new Top rail is 15" Long. But the 7 shotshell carrier is just about as long as 7 shells side to side. I'm not in my office on Sunday to give you an exact dimension but roughly 7 shells in a row long. **Q: What is the width between the two shell carriers? I want to see if I am able to mount a qd optic between them.** A: OK I just checked and the length of each of the side 7 shell carriers is 6 3/4". The space between the two clamps on the top rail is 4" but can be pushed out a little more if you move one of the clamps a little further back. Hope that helps out. **Q: does this double shell holder have the ability to remove one side of the shell holder so it only holds 7 on one side or the other?** A: Yes it can unscrew so you only have one side mounted on.
