The cooker comes in a box, and inside the box, packaged in a nice canvas bag, but upon opening it up, I discovered there are no instructions and no recipes at all. I was hoping to use it for a camping trip the next day, so I decided to take a chance and try to put it together myself. It was easy to figure out where the sticky reflectors go on the panels, but trying to figure out how it folds and clips together was a nightmare! I couldn't figure it out. Finally, I found a pic on the Solar Brother website and managed to figure it out based on enlarging that... But it seriously took me FOREVER. It's not intuitive at all. Once it is folded and propped up, I was unsure about how long the plastic tabs would be good. It doesn't seem like the sturdiest set up. I imagine after a dozen or so uses, they'll probably just give up and I'll have to duct tape it together or something. Also to note -- you won't find any English language documentation on this thing online -- it's all in French. And Google Translate doesn't really capture anything on the manufacturer's site anyway. Once I got it set up, I tested it with a few different pots. Since there's no English instructions or recipes, I had to wing it. I used a black mental enamelware pot with a lid, and an amber glass pot and filled both with water. The black pot got much hotter. I'm not sure if it ever got to boiling, but it did burn my fingers when I touched the pot. The amber glass pot got hot, but was always touchable. I added rice to the enamelware pot when I started to see tiny bubbles in the water to see if it would cook. Sure enough, it did cook the rice! It took about an hour and a half. It was in full sun the whole time. I have pretty mixed feelings about this product. On one hand, I guess it works. It's the cheapest pre-made solar oven I could find, so I guess you get what you pay for, but it was still $50 and I'd hoped it would work better than that. You get the cooker (yellow plastic-type material, with mirrored panels that you peel and stick on the yellow material before your fist use), a drawstring bag to carry it in, 2 oven baking bags and a cloth bag to carry the oven bags in. It works best to use a dark, thinned walled covered pot, such as Graniteware. Position the cooker to align with the rays of the sun. Then you place the pot inside one of the cooking bags.
