I brought these trousers for a film shoot on the coast so I wanted something that was hard wearing, warm and waterproof these trousers (Soft Shell Fleece Lined) ticked all three boxes and more. I'd tried to find something similar in some outdoor high street retailers but the costs were through the roof and the products didn't offer the same specs that I was looking for in these trousers. I tried them on as soon as they arrived as I was worried they'd be too long but they fitted great just needed a bit of a turn up at the bottom but I'm quite short so do this with all of my trousers. I haven't had the chance to take them up yet but if you were to want to shorten the length it would be a simple job easily done at home with or without a sewing machine. Despite being forecast rain the whole week it kept dry so I didn't get to properly test the resistance in rainy conditions but I ran the legs under a tap of water at home and the water just beaded off like it does with that nano technology stuff. These trousers do not have nanotech but I'd say the water resistance is on a strong par. While out doors next to the sea, on the shoot they kept me comfortably warm, I didn't feel like I was too hot and never felt cold. I had good room to run up and down steps and along the beach. I put them in the washing machine and followed the instructions (30oc and don't tumble dry if you're interested) and they washed well and dried in the liner very well. I would recommend washing inside out to protect the zips and waterproof outer lining. The trousers seemed very hard wearing as I lost my footing and smashed my shin into a truck tail lift... and apart from my dignity being a little bruised my shin and the trousers came away unscathed . The only one negative... if I was to be critical was I could occasionally feel the wind through the knees a little but this wasn't frequent and was no bother to me. They’re not waterproof but are water resistant. When I’m out on my postal route and I get caught in showers and light rain nothing gets through. Yet if it’s constant heavy rain then after about hour it will come through. . When you first try them they will be tight around the crouch. Yet like shoes you just have to wear them in. After two days that issue was gone and they’re now very snug and comfortable. . They’re wind proof and very good in cold weather. So far been on -2 haven’t felt the cold on my legs at all. . Easy to wash, pockets are decent size, zips are mostly good but be careful on may busy it.
