## Description

Product Description Delicious deep fried foods - fast and easy! Uses just six cups of oil and maintains perfect frying temperature automatically. Snap-on lid stores oil to use again and again. 120 volts, 60 Hz only desertcart.com In the homespun days, food was usually fried in a big cast-iron metal pot. But modern times demand simpler solutions. The Presto GranPappy electric deep fryer fits on a countertop and is so easy to use. Just add oil, plug it in, and in 15 minutes it's heated up and ready to fry. Its sleek, black bucket shape matches form to function-- simple and classic. The GranPappy holds up to six cups of oil or three pounds of shortening, and it can accommodate up to six servings of food at a time. The internal thermostat keeps the oil at the optimum frying temperature. An accompanying scoop, slotted for draining, is for lifting food in and out or for turning food halfway through the cooking time. The power cord has a magnetic safety connection, so that if the unit is jostled during cooking, the cord will disconnect, shutting power off immediately. After straining the used oil, it can be poured back into the unit and stored, covered by the accompanying snap-on plastic lid. After frying, unplug the unit and allow it to cool completely before attempting to empty oil. Wash the GranPappy with warm, sudsy water and dry it thoroughly; it is not immersible. To preserve the nonstick finish, inside and out, do not use steel wool or harsh, abrasive cleansers. The Presto GranPappy measures 8 by 8-1/2 inches. Presto guarantees this product with a one-year limited warranty. A simple instruction and recipe sheet is enclosed. --Garland Withers P.when('A').execute(function(A) { A.on('a:expander:toggle_description:toggle:collapse', function(data) { window.scroll(0, data.expander.$expander[0].offsetTop-100); }); }); From the Manufacturer Sporting a fresh look, this stylish deep fryer is super for sizzling up crunchy chicken, golden French fries, crispy onion rings, and more. It quickly fries six liberal servings with only six cups of oil. The perfect frying temperature is maintained automatically. Review: The best! - I’ve owned one of these before, and I must say it’s worth coming back to. This appliance heats up remarkably quickly, making it perfect for those busy evenings. Although I don't eat meat, I appreciate its versatility; it can easily fry a variety of proteins for anyone who does. The cleanup process is incredibly straightforward, as it doesn’t retain the unpleasant greasy smell typically associated with frying foods. To use it, you simply plug it in, and it powers on effortlessly. Within moments, it's ready to cook, which is incredibly convenient. I particularly enjoy using it for making a batch of delicious French fries, as it delivers that perfect crispy texture that I crave instead of relying solely on the air fryer. Overall, it’s a fantastic kitchen tool for preparing tasty meals with minimal hassle. I almost forgot to add that it also makes stews or soups for 1-3 people and three is pushing it depending on the serving size. I used to make Gumbo and lasagna soup in mine.
Review: Simple, But Does the Job--Crispy, Fluffy Homemade Fries! - After using an air fryer for a while to make french fries (um limp buggers I might say), I decided to buy the GranPappy based on price and reviews. I love the air fryer for chicken tenders, tater tots, etc. but it does not make crispy homemade fries (even though they say they do). I did not want to spend alot of money on a stainless steel fryer, which I had previously for many years until it died. (The stainless steel fryers are a PAIN to clean, they get "glumped" up from the grease that inevitably gets on the stainless steel and is nearly impossible to clean completely. That oil "residue" leaves an unpleasant odor and stickiness and many of them have so many parts to clean.) I know the Presto Fry Daddy/GranPappy has been around ALOT of years, and after reading the reviews and seeing the GranDaddy at my local WalMart, I decided to get the GranPappy as the GranDaddy is very small (frying for 1-2 people) whereas I need to fry for 4 people. I was hesitant as it does not have a temperature dial and in making homemade fries, I do the twice-fry method (1st fry at lower temp, freeze, final fry at higher temp). So far, the GranPappy has worked perfectly. My family is loving the "carnival-like" fries and I love being able to pop the lid on after it has cooled down to store with the oil (which I reuse for a few times if just used for veggies). I absolutely HATED having to drain/strain the oil from the stainless steel fryers, messy job! The GranPappy allows me to store the oil in it and I just put it in my cupboard and there is no "greasy" smell in storage like I had with the stainless steel fryers (even AFTER they were cleaned!) Since there isn't a temperature dial, in doing the "twice-fry" method, I kinda "wing it". Any fryer oil will cool down when ingredients are added, so instead of letting the GranPappy heat up for the full 15 minutes, which I believe puts the temp at 375 F, I do my 1st fry around the 10 minute mark. I've been doing homemade fries for years, so I know by looking at the fries when they are ready in the 1st fry. (they get VERY SLIGHTLY golden and a few bubbles on the exterior- also they will start to float to the top). Then I freeze them spread out on a cookie sheet lined with parchment (so they don't all clump together), package when frozen and when we want fries, I let the GranPappy heat up for the full 15 minutes, add the fries and they are done in just a couple of minutes. Servings per fry (not french fry-but "fry-ing") depends on who I'm serving, If just my husband and me, then I get about 2 servings per fry - if my sons then maybe 1 serving per fry-HAHA)- My family LOVES them though! Crispy exterior, fluffy interior. I do agree with the other reviewers that the plastic scoop that comes with the GranPappy is useless, I use a wooden-handled spider. Cleaning has been simple, dump the oil, wipe out the inside with paper towel, cover or add new oil and you're good to go! If you're tired of cleaning stainless steel fryers or just want a "no-frills fryer that works" I recommend the GranPappy. It's simple but does a great job! Sometimes simplicity is the best.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: How much bigger is it than the Daddy presto?**
A: It is significantly bigger! I own both and usually use the GranPappy unless cooking for just myself. I fry a lot of fish and it is much quicker to fry up a batch using the GanPappy. It does not take that much more oil (20%)...

**Q: Does the outside of the unit get very hot to touch ( is it safe to touch the outside ) when the oil heated and cooking?**
A: The outside of the unit is hot! it is not safe to touch it while frying. Leave it alone until you see your food is well cooked and then unplug it from the unit and your wall receptacle.

**Q: How many cups can the presto 05411 granpappy electric deep fryer hold?**
A: Fill unit with cooking oil or shortening up to oil level line, which is located on inside of unit. Never use more than six, 8-ounce cups of cooking oil or 3 pounds of shortening. Gently place 1 to 6 cups of food into unit. Use scoop to lessen spattering of hot oil. If you have any questions or concerns do not hesitate to contact Presto Customer Service Department M-F 8-4:15 CT by phone at 1-800-877-0441 or visit our website at www.gopresto.com. You may also e-mail (contact1@gopresto.com) We are here to help.

**Q: Can you use a lid with this to prevent splattering?**
A: The diameter of the fryer is about 8". I did a little research and found this item on Amazon. I think I will order both. I don't do a lot of fancy frying, so I think this set up will do just fine.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good product
*by G***S on December 11, 2025*

Heating & Performance: The fryer heats up quickly—usually in just a few minutes—and maintains a consistent temperature even when adding a full batch of food. This makes a huge difference in crispness. French fries come out golden and evenly cooked, chicken wings stay juicy inside while crispy outside, and tempura vegetables turn out light and airy. The adjustable thermostat is accurate, and the indicator lights make it clear when the oil is ready.
