Review: Quality Headlamp for a Low Cost! - I bought this headlamp here on desertcart for $7.99 because I was getting new backpacking gear, but this is a great multi-purpose headlamp. Whether you're just planning on going out for an overnight fishing trip, or you need to crawl under a stage to wrap L21-30 power cable, this headlamp will do it reliably and for an affordable cost! It's a fairly simple package that comes ready to go with 3 AAA batteries to start you off. The lamp itself turns on via a rubber button on the right side of the cylinder, one press turns on the light to what we'll call 50% power. The second press brings you up to 75%, and a third brings you up to full brightness which at this point will light up an entire campsite clearly. Coincidentally blinding out your face to anyone you look at, so heads-up CIA spooks! A fourth press brings up blinking red lights, what you want to use that setting for I'll leave up to your imagination. The next one turns off the lamp resetting the cycle. Four modes *by P***P on May 10, 2017* Overall a steal for around $8. I almost bought one at Lowes for $14 but decided to check Amazon. Can't imagine the one at Lowes being any better. This works just fine. Bright LED light with four options (white, with three brightness options, and a blinking red option). Pros: -> Low priced -> Bright lights -> Four modes (Bright White, Brighter White, Brightest White and blinking RED) -> Shines the beam forward, but also shines some straight down (not nearly as bright) which helps illuminate a wider field in front of you. -> Light weight with adjustable straps Cons: -> The forehead pad is not as soft as I hoped. I honestly thought "they need to put padding here, it is uncomfortable on my forehead" then I pulled it off and felt it and noticed it had a pad. I was shocked. I thought it was hard plastic. -> Three levels of brightness are a bit extreme. I think two would have been fine. I would have also have liked a steady RED option, not just the blinking -> Sometimes the "straight down light" (see bullet in PROS above) shines back in your eyes. -> You can adjust the angle, but it is a big angle, say, 45 degrees on each click. Would have liked more intermediate options for the angle. -> Plastic housing, while secure, feels cheap.
