This 10-meter NiTiNol shape memory wire features a transformation temperature of 60°C (±5°C) and a diameter of 0.25mm, making it an ideal choice for a variety of applications in robotics, medical devices, and engineering. ## Description

You are purchasing 10m of NiTiNol memory alloy wire. The material has the extremely interesting properties, when cold (up to approx. 45 °C) to be plastically deformable and when hot (from approx. 55°C - so-called af- or conversion temperature) to "remember" its old form. It is so-called pseudoplastic behaviour. Due to this feature, the material is called shape memory alloy (FGL) or English shape memory alloy (SMA). Thanks to the alloy with copper (NiTiCu), the wire has a very narrow hysteresis in relation to binary nickel titanium. The embossed shape of the wire offered is "straight". At room temperature, it can be easily deformed, as can be seen in the second picture. In this state, it can also be pulled relatively easily. The stretch can be up to 8% without damaging the wire. If it is heated over the conversion temperature (e.g. in hot water or by electric current), it returns to the embossed shape (see first and third image) and develops considerable forces. It is able to heat up to approx. 90°C at a diameter of 0.5mmy weight of 6.5kg. This corresponds to a force of 65 N. Thanks to these properties, the wire is ideal as an actuator for robotic applications, but is also often used in model making. Its specific (weight-related) performance significantly exceeds those of electric motors. The heating is carried out by electrical current. There are also many interesting ideas, the material can be used as a heat engine (e.g. Heatmobile) or as a complete control circuit (sensor, regulator, actuator) in thermally switching valves.
