There is a lot of talk in the education world about student engagement. However, rarely is actual research cited to support what "increases student engagement." Schlechty's defines and breaks down engagement.I find Schlechty's levels of engagement to be very helpful in thinking about learning design. In fact, I cite the levels of engagement in my book on online learning to frame thinking around virtual learning and why students may disengage.Lindy Hockenbary, Author of "A Teacher's Guide to Online Learning"
