## Description

Guitarist Dave Mustaine was an original member of thrash-pioneers Metallica. But he was booted from the band during the recording of that band's debut album, KILL 'EM ALL. Instead of moping around, Mustaine returned to California and immediately formed another group--Megadeth. He promised his fans that the new outfit would be faster and more lethal than his former band, and Megadeth's 1985 debut, KILLING IS MY BUSINESS, AND BUSINESS IS GOOD, made good on this threat. Megadeth and Metallica duked it out in the music press, but both acts thrived. In 1986, each released its finest record, Metallica's MASTER OF PUPPETS and Megadeth's PEACE SELLS...BUT WHO'S BUYING? While Metallica initially shunned MTV, Megadeth used the video format to its advantage--becoming the first thrash band to do so. Both "Wake Up Dead" and the anthemic title track received constant play on MTV's HEAVY METAL HOUR; the latter song's brief bass intro was even used as the theme to MTV news in the early-'90s. Tracks such as "The Conjuring," "Devil's Island," "Good Mourning/Black Friday," and a cover of Jeff Beck's "I Ain't Superstitious" proved to be just as brutal. PEACE SELLS is an influential, all-time heavy metal classic.

Review: KICK ASS CD!! - I am about to turn 20.. This is my first offical FULL Music desertcart Review. One more thing I will not go into super detail even though I could as alot of people usually don't care for that... anyway. I have bought alot of music and things.. but not reveiwed...this deserves it since I LOVE Megadeth..and Dave's guitar playing. I am going to state the obvious that if you don't want alot of heavy guitar and a little less singing then DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME LISTENING TO MEGADETH. They have been one of my favorite bands in metal. Dave is one of the best guitarists EVER... In MY Opinion. One of the few guitarists who are as good and better in metal music is the late Randy Rhoads (From Ozzy for those that don't somehow know already) But Whether you agree with me on this or not is you're opinion so it's you're decision to make not mine. This Album from start to finish is a kick ass thrash metal album. Personally the original Disc sounds as good to me as the newer versions of it.Favorite tracks are all of them cause they all are great songs by a great band. Now the full review Wake Up Dead- a great way to start this wonderful album, has a good rhythm and a good fast solo. This song will do what it's titled wake you up and possibly the dead to as it takes no time to get started. The Conjuring- Great fast paced rhythm and good soloing in this track. This would be a good song to play live which sadly Dave refrains from playing this track live... Peace Sells- I won't say it.. oh hell I will... Peace Sells and I'm Buying! Now if you want a good song that has rhythm and great soloing in it this track will not disapoint as it never lets up on the guitar or anything for that matter and is my Favorite Track. Devils Island- This has to be my second favorite song of the album as it has a good opening to it. The first minute of this song and it already has played more solo then alot of bands now days even have in them. I mean the opening solos for 40 secs and then has a bass lead into the song that stays in the song the whole way through. This song is a nonstop monster of a track. Good Mourning/Black Friday- Speaking a monster of a track. This song is my third Favorite song and is 6:40 of pure metal. Ontop of the great thrash beat down on this track. This song has yet another great intro that goes on forever at 1:50 a nice long intro to this terrific song. Then Dave's voice hits and the tone lowers till 2:24 then just when you think its over....it's not done yet! till about 3:11 then in comes another solo at 5 mins to about 5:24 that's a grand total of 2 minutes worth of solo in this song! Bad Omen- I hate to sound like a damn broken record... but... this has yet another good intro in this song to! This intro comes in at about 1:40 Have I mentioned how great Dave's songwriting ability is? Also his playing and his singing is pretty good considering he is playing this heavy stuff. I Ain't Superstitious- This song has a somewhat Bluesy feel to it as it is suppost to since it's a remake. It is like taking Thrash and Blues style and mixing them together...to create this great take on a song that. Dave does a great job of mixing his own style to this track. My Last Words- Great ending track. I know I have said this already but I have to say it again as it is true... Another good intro to this track, great solo work showing you as he still continues to why he is such a good guitarist. The lyrics are just right and rhythm to this song is good and help this song to cap off this thrashing metal masterpiece. Megadeth to this day continues to still bring it all these years later and I commend them for that. I sadly just have had issues finding this original disc anywhere.. but I got a good deal on it and got this album in GOOD condition for under seven bucks with shipping... So being a Megadeth fan that has wanted this for years... I could not be any more happy! VERY GLAD I GOT THIS!! I have Rust In Peace, plan to get Countdown to Extinction and also have the Megadeth Album Endgame. Going to get the newest album soon as it sounds kinda like Rust In Peace.
Review: One of the Best Thrash/Speed Metal Albums of All-Time! - First I want to start off by saying that, before I knew about thrash metal, I really didn't now much about it, but I know what kind of music thrash metal was! Peace Sells was definitly my first Megadeth album, and when I first heard it a couple times, I wondered if I could ever get use to this kind of music! For starters, I never ever listen to this kind of music before, but after a while I fell in love with the album and Megadeth's metal riffs and elabrate guitar solos! This has to be the most classic "speed metal" albums of all-time, Technically! With guitars like Chirs Poland, a jazz fusion guitarist, and drummer Gar Samuelsson. Dave Mustaine was able to put his crazy guitar work to the test, by changing his arrangments around from the previous album Killing Is My Business...And Business is Good. With less crazy guitar solos and tight pulled down rythems, Mustaine looked towards making the solos and riffs, more straight foreward and meaningful! From right off the bat, with songs like "wake up dead," Dave made sure that his music was orchestrate to rythem changes and high tempo beats! In the introduction Dave sings for a few minutes and then breaks into orchestrate hard inner changing rythems. With the song "The conjuring," it starts out very calm and easy, with the idea of the crazy aspects of the Occult and the other [stuff] that we tend to get our selves caught up into! A great song for picking up rhythm! With the anti-hu-main govermental politica song "Peace sells!" It starts out with a great bass line that makes you want to play it over and over again! Dave Mustaine gives us an insight of a person's view on politics and the ieda of the corruption of war! In the song Dave says: "If there's a new way...I'll be the first this time, but it better work this time... Then it breaks into a really cool slow solo with Dave hummering slowly down the neck of the guitar one note at a time! -Definitely the monument song on this album!- with song four Devil's Island, is definitely a ferocious song right from the beginnging with a crazy in your face pull-off hammering intense soloing! with Dave hammering down the notes on around the 19th fret with his index finger rampagely. The words are ferocious as well as Dave Mustaines famous snear! You can definitely tell by listing to this song, that Dave Mustaine and Co. is one of the most menising band out there, but one that note, this song kicks (...)! With Good Morning/ Black Friday! It starts out cold and depressing, with some signs of redemption! BUT THEN, is goes into a complex style of soloing and softin' up while Dave talks about unknown demons, AND THEN OUT OF NOWHERE the song brakes lose, and it goes all over the place, Talking about killer, demons, muders, and crazy things that can mix up your head!Truely Ferocious, rude, and Intensively insane! Bad Omen- Great song, starts out slow, and then it goes in to down stroke phases, with some cool bass lines, AND THEN, it blows up into a alsome rhythm with Dave talking about the evil in the world that comes and tend to haunt us! Good Song with some crazy all over the place soloing! With the rest of the songs, you can rate them your self! BUT!!!!! One thing that makes Megadeth important to me! Is that Dave Mustaine doesn't take crap from no one! Also, he really writes about things that mean something! And I look up to him for that! Every time I listen to this album, I say, "It definitely has to be one of the best Thrash Metal album ever! Every song is great, especially the first fourf from this album! This album definitely Tops my Favorite Thrash/Speed Metal albums of all-time! What do you think!!!!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ DVD-A mix
*by K***A on February 10, 2010*

This Disc comes equipped with DVD-A mix in surround sound, A DTS-HD mix (compressed version of DVD-A), and a stereo mix...all mixes were done at 24/96k....There is also a bonus section with both of the videos from this album, as well as interviews with the members of Megadeth, where they articulate some of the splendor of having 5.1, as well as what they may have done differently this time around. There is also a bonus track where you can solo out one of the guitars and play along with the backing tracks, it will let you select all the combinations available. The lyrics are available in the bonus section as well. I've been listening to Megadeth since 1986 and have owned this album on many different formats(tape, cd and wax). This is the best release so far, but I wonder why they didn't just release this on SACD?, as it is several times the resolution. They easily could have dumbed it down to the DVD-a and had a better mix. As far as the album goes everything sounds much cleaner than all the previous formats. The placement of instruments spread over 5 speakers is really nice, pretty much everything is where you'd imagine it to be. The mixes translated extremely well from the old stereo mixes i remember, with very few exceptions. Much like all high res CD's, you can actually hear the drums now. You can really feel the rhythm in most songs and pretty much hear what Gar was trying to do with his unique Jazz induced Metal Thrashing style. There's some spots where you can barely hear the snare but i think that's a function of the recording. Overall my biggest complaint is that the vocals aren't loud enough for my tastes. I think that the Vocals should ride in line with or just above the lead guitar, there are several spots in a few songs where the vocals get lost in the barrage of sound that comes from Dave and Chris's guitars. There's only a few songs where they nailed the vocals, like "Devil's Island" it sits in at the right level. The guitars are perfect in almost every respect and will shred you the whole way through the album. The begining of "Good Morning Black Friday" sounds a little different, you can really hear the effects on the guitar. Another minor complaint is that both the CD mix and DTS mixes of My Last Words have and audio interuption to show a picture of Gar right in the last measure of the song.....this is one of my favorite songs on the album and until i listened to the DVD-A mix it always upset me. All in All this gets a major two thumbs up....
