Inside that dimension is a white "matt" about 1" all the way around.So the actual picture area is 8&1/2" wide and 5" top to bottom. **Q: Why do red question marks show up instead of pictures?** A: If the file is corrupted or not of a type that can be read, a red question mark is displayed. **Q: Can someone who is saying that yes, you can set the photos to be in random/shuffled order please explain how? Simple operation no WIFI which is exactly what I wanted. Plug your USB flash drive in and watch your photos. The brightness feature has to be set when you power-up the frame. Your settings are not saved and brightness has to be entered at each start-up. I bought the frame from Amazon's "used" warehouse. saving 50%. I don't use the calendar or automatic start and shut down feature. There are two frames included, a lighter distressed wood look and a darker Mahogany look. The darker frame was not pre drilled for the mounting bracket screws. I drilled the screw holes and switched frames to the darker frame, it was pretty easy and I'm thinking that's why the digital frame was returned to Amazon.
