Will this work with the 2.0 game? Thanks!

Short yes, long no the charactera work with 2.0 and 3.0 the crystal doesn't and its that way across the board. 1.0 and 2.0 characters are usable on 3.0 but crystals arn't. Im a little bit disapointed in that aspect but me and my kid have fun with the game

will this work with wii u?

The figures themselves work with any system. Question is if you have the "plate" that the figures stand on. That one has to work with your game system (f. ex. I have one for x-box...) - if in doubt get the one for Wii from Walmart and test it with your gaming system - it's an easy return if it does not work. Be aware that unless the characters have a clear world piece too in the box, they do not have their own world, they are just extra characters to play in the toy box. Better value to get toy story, cars or lone ranger play sets.
