## Description

Blackmagic Mini Converter UpDownCross HD Mini Converter UpDownCross HD is a standard converter that converts any SD or HD video format to any other SD or HD video format converted. Just specify the desired output format and the input format will be converted automatically. This protects valuable equipment from receiving incorrect signals. HDMI computers can also be effortlessly connected to SDI projectors via the Mini Converter UpDownCross HD. The converter then upscales the video sent from the computer to your chosen TV output standard. The Mini Converter UpDownCross HD has multi-rate 3G-SDI connections for working in all formats up to 1080p/60 including Level A and Level B. It also scales computer resolutions via the HDMI input. So you benefit from an HDMI input, a reference input, audio delay for perfect AV synchronization, timecode conversion and 3G-SDI as well as HDMI inputs and outputs for connecting all imaginable devices. Convenient operation. The built-in switches allow you to change the Mini Converter's settings on the fly. This is great when you need to be quick – without navigating through complicated menus. There's even a circuit diagram printed on each converter, so you don't have to reach for the manual. However, you can also specify settings using the supplied Converter Utility software. To do this, connect the converter to a Mac or PC. The software of all models can be updated via USB. Simply connect Mini Converter to a Mac or PC and install upgrades directly from the Blackmagic Design website. For example, updates expand Mini Converter to include new video standards and technologies as they become available. Review: Video production must have! - This solved my video production camera compatibility issues for me. Though the configurations on the converter might be old, the installer has a more accurate instruction manual in pdf that has the various combinations for the desired output. If you are into video production, this will save your life and time. This is my second purchase.
Review: It's so useful. - I need this chiefly because BMD vision mixers tend to require every input to be the same resolution and frame rate. Unhelpful vision mixers! Having said that, this will help with one camera input, or one PC input. We have all cameras set to 1080i at 50 fps ("1080 i 50") but recently purchased two cameras at 1080 i 59.94 along with a cheap BMD mixer. Their Mini mixer outputs at 1080 p 50 and will need conversion to augment inputs to the main mixer. So the UpDownCross is useful. Our PC hasn't got a 1080 i 50 setting available (cheaper graphics card) and as graphics cards are so expensive just now, this might provide an alternative way forwards.

**Q: Can i use this to convert a 720p hdmi to 1080i sdi?**
A: Yes you can. Mini Converter UpDownCross HD has the ability to convert any SD or HD video format with up, down, or cross conversion via SDI and HDMI. See page 83 on Blackmagic Converters Manual.

**Q: The output matches the monitor; which monitor? i will input a laptop hdmi out to 2 different switchers; 1 via hdmi 1 via sdi.**
A: "Output supports EDID of the monitor". https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extended_Display_Identification_Data

This simply means that the converter does not output a fixed format via HDMI, rather it will communicate with the connected display to handshake on what resolution the monitor prefers. If your outputs are going direct to switchers and not to a display/TV, then this should not affect you and converter will simply output what you set it up to do.

**Q: Will this converter let me use my iphone camera or apple tablet camera into atem mini switcher?**
A: Im not sure because the mini switcher allows you to switch video outputs during streaming.  The UpDownCross use one signal and let you distribute that signal through the sdi out and hdmi out..
