The quality of craftsmanship is good but I found two things that need changed.First the ferro rod isn't all ferro/flint but it has a small ferro rod inserted into a larger magnesium rod and then a chamber is filled with a larger chunk of magnesium also, so you end up with plenty of magnesium. I took the larger chunk out and replaced it with cotton balls with petroleum jelly rubbed into them. I was able to fit three full sized cotton balls in there.The second problem is that the mirror is in the bottom of that same tube that I filled with cotton balls underneath some kind of protective white film, basically behind the compass. The mirror being down a tube. I couldn't figure a way to get it out and I don't think that it's designed to come out which renders it useless for signalling anything that is more that about a 3 degree arc around the sun from your position. The only thing that I could figure out to do with the mirror was to look at your own eye, just the one that's hovering over the tube, and I don't think that's very useful.The compass isn't the best but mine did point north if I was patient and held it fairly level and away from metal. I just realized that maybe the metal mirror under it is messing with it. Anyway it's a great idea that needs more thought. ### ⭐ Poor quality, pretty much junk *by G***W on 12 July 2018* Poor quality, pretty much junk. The "flashlight" doesn't even work.
