It also depends on your size frame, weight, strength and height. I am 4'9" 100lbs. and have been doing this for years. I use a 10oz. glove but some manufacturers don't make them and I think this is one of them. 12oz. should be more than enough for you (if you are a woman). I hope this helps. **Q: Do these gloves Velcro wrap all around the wrist?** A: It wraps halfway around the wrists. **Q: Will these be ok for my son who is in kick boxing? Right out of the box (I should say bag), these gloves had that "broken in feel". Incredibly comfortable. I'm 5'10", 195lbs, and these gloves accommodated my hands, with 180" wraps, as if they were custom fitted. The material was very dense, so I would not use them for sparring. But then again, they're 20oz gloves. Not a lot of material around the wrists was very nice, compared to some of the other gloves that make you feel like you're in a cast up to your elbow. So far, I've put about 100 rounds of heavy (and I do mean heavy) bag work on these gloves, and the foam does not feel "punched out" at all, but I did notice a very small tear in the stitching near the thumb of one glove. Does not interfere with the performance at all. I will definitely order these again, once I punch this pair out. I had a pair that was given to me and I decided to get a new pair. I also brought a pair of ringside as well. Very similar but I have to say ringside is definitely built a little better. First usage of proforce the stitching came apart but it did on my other proforce and they still lasted. Better stitching is my biggest complaint. There not bad gloves. You definitely have to wear wraps with them. My second session without wraps I cut my knuckle. They are good gloves besides that. I haven't used my ringside gloves yet to make a hit comparison. Definitely value for your money because they last but just expect the stitching to come apart not all over the glove but on the outside. I would still buy because like I said I had my other proforce for years I actually gave them to my cousin and he's using them now.
