We do both Search and Rescue (SAR) and recreational stuff. We encountered SO many hikers in distress and used these and they were great! Instant relief and a real game changer. They are instantly cold (like ice) and lasted about 15-20 minutes in 105 F temps outside. They are HARD to break open (we had to stomp on them). This was ideal for us though as they lived in the tops of our 40 lb backpacks and got beat up. They didn’t break or activate until we stomped on them so that was perfect. They are a little on the heavy side for backpacking, but given they tipped the balance for people tipping into heat exhaustion and kept them from going into heat stroke? Heck yeah these are WELL worth it.
