## Description

MB360 Battery Powered Spotlight

Review: What a GREAT -- no, INCREDIBLE light! - We have an area at our office building, an upper deck with entryway, that has no outside light. We could get something wired in, but not very easily, given that it is a cinder block building and there isn't any wiring close to draw from, plus, it's the hassle of installation, and another light to forget to leave on or forget to turn off. So, this seemed ideal -- a motion activated porch light for the times we are accessing that door, after dark, which happens frequently for our later shift. I mounted this right in the upper corner of the rather wide wooden door sill (so I didn't have to deal with the cinder block), and it's a gem! Works GREAT! The outside security lighting we have does not reach that doorway, so, even though our back parking lot is fairly well lit, this light still pops on reliably whenever we are using that upstairs back door at night. The only issue we had was that, if the inside upstairs was well lit, then, when you opened the door from the inside, at night, this light did not kick on, because there was too much light coming through the windows of the door itself, and so the sensor did not sense enough darkness to know to turn the light on, when motion was sensed (the door opening, for example). We could maybe have gotten around that with trial and error of location, maybe, but I found that just leaving off the inside lamps nearest the door dimmed things down enough for the sensor to know that it is "night" and pop the light on when the door is opened from inside. So, problem solved, and it now also acts as a motion sensor warning, given that, if someone is at the back door, we see the light kick on and shine in through the back door window. So, a terrific product, does what it says, won't run down batteries because it only comes on as needed, is easily mounted and aimed wherever you want it to shine, and throws a BRIGHT and fairly wide spot of light. It is a "spot light" kind of light, so, good to keep in mind that it does not (and is not designed to) shine beyond where it is pointed really, but, if you are looking for a quick area light with no wiring issues, that is motion activated, this is a great light and I highly recommend it! ***** UPDATE: December, 2013: Just wanted to say that, not only is this light still going strong, but it's still on the SAME ORIGINAL batteries from installing it, back in January of this year, and showing no signs of significant dimming, WOW!!! That will be a year of use, in a few weeks, on the same batteries. Light is still working GREAT!!! Needless to say, Mr. Beams ROCKS!!!
Review: Excellent product!! - Great little light! I have a walkway along side the garage that contains one step midway, in a very dark area. A couple of people have tripped on that step or stepped off, not knowing they were stepping off. When I saw that there was a battery operated security light, I thought it could be just what I need. This one is!! It works perfectly. Took me about 5 minutes to install and it provides plenty of illumination. Actually a surprising amount for a low power consumption LED. I have it mounted up under the eave about 8 feet high and it throws a circle of light about 20 feet in diameter and the step is totally visible now. The motion sensor works great and pops the light on when a pedestrian is about 5 to 10 feet from the step. I have only had this for about two months, so I don't know how long the batteries will last, but I think this is going to work out just fine for me. The only time of year it is really needed is from November to April, and with three D cells, I'm betting I'll have to replace the batteries maybe once a year. I am very satisfied with this light for the price and ease of use. UPDATE: (Dec. 12th, 2013) I have had this light installed for two years now and it is still working like it did the day it was first installed AND ON THE ORIGINAL BATTERIES! It lights my "hidden step" area perfectly and does just what I needed. This is one of those products that is worth every cent as far as I'm concerned. It does what it is supposed to do and has exceeded my expectations related to performance and longevity. If you need to illuminate a 20 foot area and you can mount it 8 feet high, this will do the job!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: How long do the batteries last?**
A: I bought one of these lights in 11 Nov 2011 to place it in my little vinyl sided shed that gets cold in the winter and hot in the summers. Today Dec 14 2019 I'm replacing the 3 D batteries for the first time!

**Q: Will swaying leaves on trees or branches cause this to turn on or if positioned lower than the tree can that be avoided?**
A: Swaying leaves may set it off initially, but these lights do seem to learn. I have one on the back porch that has learned to come on when a raccoon is approaching the cat dish, but completely ignore an ax murderer. It seems to know a raccoon is bad and has learned to enjoy the theatrics of me trying to shoo a fearless 40lb animal off the porch - but realizes an ax murderer on a windy night is more interesting kept in my imagination, and out of my sight. These are great lights though. I use the URPower 'solar' lights all over, and have found they charge just fine even without being in direct sunlight, but these Mr. Beams have more mounting options, and pick up the slack inside the shed and other dark location with zero-ish sunlight and I also like them at each doorway - because they look like a camera. I've actually 'seen' a person, who did not realize I was standing 3 houses away talking to a friend...look up at the Mr. Beam...pause, and walk away from my front door. We called the police and he gave a vague story about trying to find a friends house...as he picked scabs and twitched a lot. The police told me NOTHING is better than light, light, and more light, especially a few units that look like cameras. That day my entire neighborhood was placing orders for URPower and MrBeam stuff on Amazon.

**Q: How long does the battery lasts**
A: I installed these lights in August 2018. Just had to replace batteries today...January 23, 2021.
I am very happy with these lights!

**Q: if I put it on a tree in the driveway will branch movement turn the light on?**
A: Yes.....the leaves will make the lights turn on......animals too.. I also am waiting for the leaves to fall and see what the branches do,,,How ever set the lites for 5 seconds..and you won't notice it. If the movement keeps tripping it.close the drapes. The lite is doing what you want..security!!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Pretty Good for a Battery-Operated Light
*by F***L on September 4, 2011*

I am trying to add more security to our new home that is being built. The construction site previously had no lights, and the neighbors told us that there were people snooping around the house one night. I bought three Mr. Beams spotlights to use as temporary lighting until I can get electricity to the house. I installed one under the front porch (facing the street) and two under the back porch (facing the garage door and back porch steps), and all three work great. The spotlight is pretty good for being battery operated. It is not super bright but it will add decent light to a dark area. I was impressed with the motion detector's range. After installing the spotlights, we drove up to the house during the night to see if they worked. The front porch spotlight turned on when we parked the car on the street (approximately 30-35 feet from the house). Installation was easy. Another positive thing I noticed is that light rain will not trigger the motion detectors. I will do an update on the longevity of the spotlights in a couple of months. I had the spotlights for about a week so far. Some downsides: I like this product and would recommend it for areas that lack electric power sources. I can't say I love this product. The battery cover seems a little flimsy. Also, I bought this: 2 Pack: Wireless Motion Sensor LED Lights ~ 10 Wide Area LED Bulbs at Costco for about $20, which is currently a better value than Amazon. The Megabrite lights work just as good as the Mr. Beams spotlights. To be fair, the Megabrite package said the lights are not intended for outdoor use, but I have all the lights installed under a porch, and can't really notice a difference in brightness between the brands. UPDATE October 27, 2011: I've checked on the lights about once a week, and they are all still working. Overall, I prefer the Mr. Beams spotlights. I've noticed that the Mr. Beams spotlights cast a white light, and the Megabrite lights cast a bluish-white light. Thus, the Mr. Beams spotlights are brighter. Also, Mr. Beams lights look a lot better. A couple of people commented about our "cameras" when looking at the Mr. Beams lights. The Megabrite lights look like a 1990s cell phone stuck on the ceiling of our porch. Both the Mr. Beams and Megabrite lights will not turn on if you are moving EXTRA slow, but I doubt a burglar will have the patience to do that. I guess it all boils down to what you plan to use the lights for and how much you are willing to spend. The Megabrite lights serve their purpose to provide light, and are almost half the price.
