Review: So far so great - Got this for Xfinity as there is no way I'm paying a monthly fee to "rent" a router. After powering it on it was a little tricky to get the router/modem working as the Wi-Fi was not turning on. I did a factory reset and voila, Wi-Fi was good to go. After that, I used the Nighthawk app to do automated setup and everything was gravy within minutes. Could not be easier. I didn't have to do much of anything. Protip: Once you have Wi-Fi access, use the Nighthawk app! I was hesitant to do this because I don't like having a million apps but it makes setup and router management a cinch. Set it and forget it. Currently using two computers (one ethernet, one Wi-Fi) and a gaming console on this gateway with great speeds and have had no hiccups. If your ISP charges rental fees for their own gateway then this thing pays for itself in less than a year. No-brainer.
Review: Highly recommend for Comcast Xfinity... - Love this device! Backstory: I just moved into an apartment in Chicago. I pay for Comcast Xfinity's 75 Mbps for a great rate of $39.99/month. After much research, I decided to buy this unit instead of renting Comcast's modem for $10/month. Since this is a modem/router combo, I'm able to use this one device to send the wifi throughout my apartment. I have a large-ish and LONG apartment with at least 3 large rooms (and one long hallway), so I keep this modem/router in the middle room. According to Speedtest.net, with my PC connected with an ethernet cable, I get 90 Mbps (much more than I even pay for-- when does that even happen?). The wifi in the other rooms is about 20-40 Mbps, depending on how far away I am from the center of the apartment. The box comes with VERY easy instructions and even specifically had a section talking about Xfinity... It told me how to startup my internet using a comcast special website, instead of having to call the company and give any MAC addresses to the technicians. The setup took about 5 minutes, if that. I have had no issues with it since, but I've only had it for a week. Inside the box: An ethernet cable about 6 feet long, power cord, and the device itself. Please note that this box DOES NOT include a "coax" cable, which is the cable that connects this modem/router to your wall. So be sure you buy one! I highly recommend this device for the quality of the equipment, wifi speeds it emits, and the almost too-easy setup. Thanks

## Questions & Answers

**Q: do i have to buy the netgear ac1200 wi-fi usb and if so what does it do ?**
A: First, a brief lesson on the Netgear AC1750 Wi-Fi docsis 3.0 - this item combines your Internet providers cable modem and your internal Wi-Fi router into 1 piece of equipment instead of having 2 sitting on your desktop; however, the more important feature of this item is that you won't need your cable providers cable modem (which I pay $7 per month to rent - there are some pros and cons to this because if it breaks you are on your own if you own the equipment, if you rent it for $7 per month the cable company will replace it for free). Now the other feature of the Netgear Ac1750 Wi-Fi docsis 3.0, which is now getting into more of the question you asked, is that it provides Wi-Fi (wireless network/internet access) to your house. In order to be able to use the Wi-Fi feature, you must have something on the PC/TV/Roku/Amazon Fire Stick/etc. that can talk back to the netgear ac1750, that something (sometimes called an adapter) is what you are asking about. So now let me explain something about Wi-Fi before I answer your question. Wi-Fi has different levels of speed/fastness/throughput they are categorized by letters b/g/n/ac. For simplicity sake, b and g are the slowest, n and ac are the fastest. This router provides 2 access points, the first one for b/g/n and the second one for n/ac. Most laptops/pc/tvs/etc can access the routers b/g/n access point because this technology has been around for a long time and is already built into those devices; however in order to take advantage of this routers fastest and latest and greatest technology (ac), you would have to have the ac technology built into your pc or use the Netgear ac1200 Wi-Fi usb (the item you are asking about). So to answer your question, you do not have to buy the netgear ac1200 to use the router (because you can still use the b/g/n or n/ac Wi-Fi access points for your older equipment). I just bought a new laptop and it had the ac technology already built into it. If you are connecting your pc/equipment hardwired to the netgear ac1750 Wi-Fi docsis 3.0, you won't need anything except the network cable to attach it (the Wi-Fi speed would not apply because it is hardwired, hardwired is always the fastest way to go).

**Q: does this work with time warner**
A: Yes. Google "your provider recommended modems". We're on Comcast but may be moving and we have found the C7000 on the recommended lists for Comcast (the box has "Xfinity" printed on it, Time Warner and Cox so far. There may well be others we have not checked.

**Q: will ooma work with NETGEAR AC1750 Wi-Fi DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem Router (C6300)**
A: Yes, we have ooma connected by Ethernet cable and it works fine, with Comcast as the internet service provider.

**Q: Will this replace Xfinity rental if I get voice service as well?**
A: The Netgear C6300 only has 4 Ethernet ports for networking, and no ports for telephone, unless Xfinity has a separate box for telephone. Usually, Xfinity or other providers have a combo modem router with phone ports (EMTA modem routers or EMTA modems that connect to a network router). I worked for Cox Communications, and you must have a special EMTA modem or EMTA modem router for phone service from Cox, and that's the same for other phone and Internet providers.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Highly recommend for Comcast Xfinity...

### ⭐ Works...like a Sloth on Ambien
*by C***N on May 11, 2016*

I bought one of these in January of 2015. Followed all the setup directions and was pleasantly surprised at the awesome speeds and connectivity of more than 6 devices being connected at once with no problems. Then, 8months later in August 2015, my speeds started slowing down dramatically, and eventually the router started cutting out losing all connectivity. I assumed that since it had been great so far, it was just Comcast being Comcast. However, after Comcast sent a rep out to my house he verified that it wasn’t them that had the problem. He plugged up a new router (one of their stock Xfinity routers) and it worked just fine. He tested the line with my (this router) plugged up, and then tested it again with their Xfinity router, turns out it was fact this one. I decided to keep the router as it wasn’t extremely bad and I thought I could live with it. Unfortunately it has only gotten worse since then. Now it cuts out CONSTANTLY trying to reconnect to the internet!! All lights are lit up properly showing the internet is connected, even though there is no connection whatsoever to the internet on multiple devices (including on my desktop which is plugged into it with an Ethernet cord). I’m barely able to get 5 or 6mb upload/download speed. Then there are times that it works phenomenally giving me 440 or 550mb upload/download speed. I have tested it many times, I have reset it many times and it seems that the only thing that works every once and a while is unplugging it 3 or 4 times to do a full reset and hoping for the best. The best part this is that when I contacted Netgear customer service, instead of trying to live up to a reputation of great customer service that they’re known for, I was told by a very insistent rep that since I’m past the warranty she couldn’t help me other than to sell me a new router. All I wanted was for something to walk me through a few steps to see if it was fixable or not. I’ve been a loyal fan/customer of Netgear for 11+ years, and you would think that spending $230 on this damn this would count for something….I guess not! If this is how Netgear is going to operate making crappy products that don’t last more 2 years, and treat customers like a cash pot then I would strongly have to advise against purchasing this or any other router from them.
