For me it came up as COM8 and was recognized by my programming software.I don't have a lot of RS232 or RS485 stuff these days but what I do have is a box full of these STM32 microcontrollers that require a separate UART to program. I wasn't even sure what I need to do that but this WHDTS CP2102 is exactly what I needed to get these MCUs up and running.Here is what I did. First, I followed the provided instructions and set the dip and toggle switches. I needed TLL so for me dip 1 was on (left) and dip 2 was off (right) while the toggle was down (with the usb to the left). I used the included jumpers to connect the 3v3 and ground pins the STM32F103s 3v3 and ground pins. Then I connected the RX pin on the CP2102 to my STM A9 pin and the TX to A10.I hit the reset and then opened the Arduino IDE. There I picked my board and port COM8 and set the Upload method to Serial. I opened the trusty blinky and wrote it to the board. Success!It couldn't have been easier thanks to my CP2102. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A very handy little converter *by D***N on Reviewed in the United States on December 29, 2018* I have this converter mainly to connect a PC to anything that uses serial RS232. But what I like most is that it can also do TTL, 485, and any combination of which. So I can easily switch between the different interfaces by changing the slide switch and dip switches when I need to. It also comes with the 10 conductor cable which make it very flexible to connect to anything. Getting back to my experience. I set the switches to RS-232 and plugged into my PC. The description doesn't say anything about Windows 10, but it does work with it. As soon as I plugged it in, Windows found it. I did have to download a driver from Silicon Labs, but that's no biggie. After driver installation, I was able to configure the COM number and other settings normally found in a Windows serial port. Overall, I'm very happy with it and look forward to using it on my many projects. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent functionality *by S***K on Reviewed in the United States on February 27, 2020* This is the best USB to serial dongle I've used. It not only works as a standard USB to serial (RS-232), but also as USB to serial (TTL, 5V/3.3V), USB to serial (RS-485), AND it has 5V and 3.3V pins on its dual row header that I can use to supply Power to my test board. I'm designing a communications interface for an industrial equipment that uses RS-485 and this little guy has saved my life.
