Just as good as the more expensive brands! *by C***R on 7 October 2018* Honestly, I saw the price and kind of jumped straight to buying it solely based on the price compared to other well known brand SSD prices. This is totally well worth the money for a 1tb drive and my computer has become lighting fast, especially the boot time! My computer is loaded up on the desktop, ready to use within 20/30 seconds as opposed to 2/3 minutes in the past. Speeds are just as advertised, just make sure you connect it to the fastest SATA port on your motherboard, which is usually a different colour to the rest of the ports. It's given new life to my PC. No issues whatsoever with the quality of the drive, plus no moving parts like traditional hard drives so there's a very slim chance anything could go wrong!Happy Customer here! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Still going strong from July 2019 *by A***R on 9 November 2020* The 1tb TCSunbow replaced a 500gb Samsung, which in turn replaced a mechanical/hdd in my wife's laptop.We both have old Acer 770 laptops which have survived broken screen replacements, cpu upgrades, multiple wifi card changes, various ram upgrades. A pair of Trigger's brooms.Mine has been running the TCS 1tb ssd for almost 18 months, daily use, often running overnight downloads. I see a lot of negative reviews but all I can say is that I am very happy with this bargain basement ssd. Just wondering whether some makes of laptop are more fussy than others and less likely to work with non mainstream hardware. I did have a Lenovo/IBM for a while and it wouldn't accept many of the upgrade hardware I tried. It was only when I used the same 'faulty' hardware in the Acer laptops that I realised they weren't faulty. Perhaps some makes just won't work well with TCSunbow stuff?Today I tried out the ATTO benchmarking program and was surprised to find just how good the figures for this cheap n cheerful ssd are. Read and write both over 500Mb/s. Explains why I haven't noticed any obvious difference after switching from the Samsung 500gb ssd!Being a pessimist I did buy another one of these last November, as I assumed this one wouldn't last much beyond 2019. So far the new one is still unused in the box.So a thumbs up to TCS but also well done to the Samsung 500gb, still going strong after 5 years. My fears that the new expensive ssds would be failing after a few years have settled. I now only use HDDs to keep pictures, videos and backups. Especially after seeing two relatives' brand new Windows 10 laptops that were running like snails until the 2tb HDDs were replaced with an SSD. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Snapped up a bargain *by I***E on 21 November 2019* I got this 1 TB SSD at a saving on an Amazon Warehouse Deal - the description said it was missing the manual, which was not a great loss as I know how to install it and anyway manuals written in Chenglish aren't usually a lot of help! It also said the case was scratched, which wouldn't have been a big deal as it was not going to be seen again after installation - it turned out to be unmarked.I bought it to speed up my Early 2008 MacBook Pro, the price of SSD drives having come down to the point where it is worth while even if the computer is as old as this. This trusty laptop has had a succession of drive replacements, having come with a puny 200 GB 5400 rpm hard drive. The SSD replaces a Seagate 1 TB hybrid drive, which has a small solid state cache and rotates at 7200 rpm, as fast as I could go with a mechanical drive.iFixit has a very clear and accurate guide for replacing the hard drive - it's just a matter of removing a ton of screws and unhitching the display and hard drive connectors, then doing the same steps in reverse. All you need is a driver with a Philips 00 and a T6 bit - It took me about 20 minutes though I've done it before a good few times and didn't need to look at the guide.I first cloned the Seagate drive to the new SSD, a process which took 13 hours 50 minutes with the SSD in an external USB drive adapter. It would have been a lot less with USB 3 but unfortunately the MacBook Pro has only USB 2.0 ports.I knew before I started that I wouldn't be seeing a phenomenal increase in measured disk access speeds because the MacBook Pro has a SATA I interface, while the drive is capable of running on a Sata III interface at about four times the speed of SATA I. Blackmagic Disk Speed Test showed sustained read speed of 132 MB/s and write speed of 122 MB/s, compared with 55 and 50 with the Seagate hybrid drive - an improvement but not a massive one.Anyway, sustained disk access isn't a big priority - I'm never going to use a laptop this old for heavy video work or the like. The big improvement is in random access, and the machine feels so much more snappy than before, apps opening quickly and the Finder responding instantly instead of taking what seemed like an eternity to show folder contents.The drive just worked out of the box, and, though I can't comment on longevity, I'm pretty confident that, with no moving parts, it will continue to work.
