Advertised as having been updated for 2018 to be the latest and greatest, well I can tell you it ain’t so! I have the Kindle, Nook and Kobo from 2015. And this inkBook, and I would guess it’s the same for any other reader running on Android 4.2 is a dinasor. Very slow and lags horribly when using the Kindle app that I didn’t bother trying the Nook app or Kobo’s. inkBooks app is so basic and lacks many features offered by other readers. The adjustable light temperature is a farce. It goes from a pure white to bright blue white, and the brightness adjustment at the lowest setting is so bright it could be used as a flashlight and the high setting is as bright as the headlight on your car, causing my eyes to hurt. Will no doubt be returning this unit! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Open android reader. *by A***R on January 28, 2020* Great reader. Open android. Would buy again. ### ⭐⭐ The original Prime was far better. *by E***S on October 25, 2018* I made the mistake of upgrading from my inkBOOK Prime to the Prime HD. The Prime HD will freeze and restart while using the built-in apps, frequently throw errors when the keyboard, inkBOOK reader, and launcher crash, and when using other applications such as Calibre, will crash or "lose" its default folders. The screen will freeze on the screensaver, and reboot itself rather than unlock. Some of the freezes and crashes happened while under light load (i.e., turning the page) while others occurred when I attempted to wake the device or return back to the launcher home screen. After returning to factory zero, I attempted to simply read using nothing but the basic books and apps that came with it out of the box and found the same errors.Other/Personal Observations: The backlight is simply too bright. The color adjustment is nice enough. The right-side hardware buttons worked smoothly, but the left ones felt like they were off kilter, made a plastic clicking noise and would catch, and would frequently not register. Form factor was comfortable, the screen was clear and easy to read, and the device itself is a good, attractive size.The inkBOOK Prime was a delight, worked fine, and I regret giving it up every moment I pick up the Prime HD.
