## Description

eufy Security Motion Sensor E20

Review: Reliable, Easy Setup, and Great for Peace of Mind - This motion sensor has been a great addition to my home security setup. The installation was quick and straightforward, and it connected seamlessly with my existing system without any issues. I really like how compact and low-profile it is—it blends in well and doesn’t stand out. The motion detection is accurate and responsive, and I haven’t had any false alarms so far, even with movement around the house. It picks up motion quickly and sends notifications right away, which gives me extra peace of mind, especially when I’m not home. Another big plus is the battery life. Knowing it’s designed to last a long time means less maintenance and fewer worries about constantly replacing batteries. Overall, this is a dependable and well-designed sensor that does exactly what it’s supposed to. Definitely a solid addition if you’re looking to expand your home security setup.
Review: A great add-on for anyone currently using Eufy products that want to expand their security. - As someone who uses Eufy for most of their home security needs this motion sensor has worked great! And it's claim to be pet-friendly is actually true unlike many others out there. Our doggo stays in the living room most of the time and in the last 2 weeks of use she has not triggered it a single time. Installation was a breeze and comes with all the hardware you need to mount it. I mounted ours in a corner and the bracket that the sensor attaches to came with pre cut circles you can punch out that allow you to easily attach it to each wall in a corner. This also helped with it being level and went up without issue. Took maybe 5 minutes tops to get it installed and connected to my phone. It also supports the Eufy homebase 3 which it easily attached to without issue. You can even setup automations so when it senses movement you can have your camera point in that direction. It's pretty cool. Sound quality wise it doesn't make any sounds except when you're doing the setup process. The size is great, nothing too noticeable and doesn't make any crazy flashing lights or anything like that which is nice. The price is very reasonable for what you get and how well and accurately it works. All in all I highly recommend this to anyone that already has some Eufy products in their setup and especially if you have a compatible homebase to connect it to.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: How can I reduce false alarms?**
A: Avoid placing the sensor in direct light, heat sources, windows, or vents, as these may cause false triggers. Don't aim at stairs or furniture your pets might climb. Mount it above 6 ft (1.8 m), keeping the sensor vertical.

**Q: How long does the battery last?**
A: Under normal conditions, it can last for 5 years. Note: Data based on internal lab testing. Actual performance may vary depending on usage conditions.

**Q: Does eufy Motion Sensor E20 require a connection to HomeBase? Which HomeBase models is it compatible with?**
A: Yes, it needs to be connected to HomeBase. Ensure your HomeBase has the required version: HomeBase Mini (v4.0.5.2 or above); HomeBase 2 (v3.4.1.2 or above, released after 2021); HomeBase 3 (v3.7.2.6 or above); HomeBase Pro (v4.1.4.3 or above).

**Q: What is the recommended installation height and angle?**
A: For best detection, install it at a height of 6 - 7.5 ft (1.8 - 2.3 m). The sensor works best across its field of view—avoid pointing it at doors or paths. Angle it toward the area to monitor.

**Q: How can I turn on Pet mode? Are there any limitations?**
A: You can turn Pet Mode on or off in the app. This reduces false alerts for pets under 80 lb (36 kg). However, if pets jump on furniture or stay close together, the sensor may detect them as a single large animal, which can trigger a false alarm.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Sensor is very responsive, reliable
*by S***Y on 26 February 2026*

The sensor itself is excellent, with a hefty battery that will likely last the two years they advertise. It readily detects motion directly ahead, so you can aim it directly at an entrance door, for example, and an intruder will trigger it instanly from across a normal sized living room (15-20ft), and likely farther. It will wait 60 seconds between notifications, which is a very useful feature; you don't have to be worried that you will be blasted with a hundred notifications from one actual event. This must be used with the greater Eufy security system, and I have docked one star due to its current somewhat clumsy interface. The app is not as intuitive as it could be. For example, The use the word, 'Device' to describe both the homebase and the sensors. In the app it indicates you can create various groups of 'devices,' which one would normally interpret to mean sensors. But in that instance, 'device' means just the homebase. I hope they will change this going forward. Currently, you can create custom modes for setting the alarm. This allows you to create a mode to say trigger only entry sensors (doors and windows) and ignore motion (I don't want the alarm to sound when I grab a midnight snack). This is a very handy feature, but to use it you have to go down the list of a dozen or more (24 in my case) sensors and check each one that should trigger the alarm. If you could group them, you could create many modes very quickly. I have yet to see the use in buying multiple homebases and then grouping them??? I suspect it is a bug in the app that their phone assistance won't admit. I hope so, and I hope they fix it. I will say, their AI assistant, Jessica, is damn good. Example: "Wait a sec- I can't see the serial number because there is not enough light." Jessica: "No problem, as soon as you get enough light to read the serial number, I'll be here- no hurry." Also, I can start the conversation stating everything I did to troubleshoot before calling, and 'she' doesn't miss anything, she acknowledges that it is helpful narrowing down the issue, and surely enough, nothing she says subsequently suggests she is faking it- she got it! This system has excellent flexibility in letting you set things up, the range between sensors, sirens, and homebase is much better than I expected. Once they work out the early kinks, I think this will be an excellent security system.
