Fitting it was a doddle, no tools required. Simply expand it to fit your shelf, then tighten the thumb screws. Our fridge shelf is approximately 35.5cm/14in deep and there was more expansion available. The drawer sits about 1cm below the shelf (see photo of bracket) . The drawer doesn't expand to the full depth of our shelf, but it comfortably fits 6 small pots, plus a couple of other small items. (I have the sistema 150ml yogurt pots in mine to give you an idea of size). Maximum height of anything in the drawer is about 8cm/3.25in. I bought it to reclaim all of the wasted space above items in my fridge and it does that perfectly. The drawer feels really robust and well made. The overall measurements in the photo description are pretty accurate. The only very very minor drawback is that the writing on the front of the drawer is printed on (I thought it was a sticker) so not removable. So it just means I have to learn a little bit of Chinese :D! Altogether very pleased and would recommend as a helpful addition to reclaim wasted space in the fridge.
