I've not melted one yet, they don't stain or harbor germs or odors, clean easily by hand or the dishwasher, and generally are work-horses in my kitchen. These are a better product in my opinion over the Chinese-made ones marketed by Rubbermaid. I have both brands and the Rubbermaid ones stay in the drawer - eventually to be donated or discarded to make room for more of the superior Vollrath.
