I may be a bit biased, given that I had a copy as a young child and have a fondness for the book, but I will try to give a fair review of both positives and negatives.Positive aspects of the book:1. Fairly informative and yet still laid out like a younger child could most likely understand the context.2. As it's aimed at younger audiences, there isn't really any bad language or much discussion of wars or disasters.Aspects of the book that are neither good nor bad, or which depend on the buyer's perspective:1. Colorful yet simplistic drawings. They're detailed enough to be interesting, but not overly so. What they lack in detail, however, they make up for in quite a bit of color.2. Focuses on the 1890s, which was 100 years before the time this book was published. For reference, the book was published in 1999 or so. The date of this review is 2020, so it's more accurate to say that this book is about life 130 years ago. Therefore, you might want to clarify to the child that this is bought for (whether a student or your own child) that this was about the 1890s, not the 1920s.Potential negative aspects:1. As stated above, this gives a largely child-friendly version of the history. It is not comprehensive, though you can hardly see any one book as being absolutely a complete story of anything, especially a history book.Hopefully that wasn't too long of a review. I hope that this helps anyone out who is trying to figure out whether or not this is a good fit for their own home, school, or library. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Informative *by H***R on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on April 7, 2021* I enjoyed this book. It is very informative. I was hoping to use it with my kindergarten class, but it is not really made for that grade level. I would recommend it for 2nd grade or older. She is a good reader, but I thought the pictures were so good that they would help her understand the subject better. She liked the book, and said her teacher has a lot of others by the same author.
