Have it covering the Berber carpet on the stairs heading to the basement because those get incredibly filthy. I'm naturally slow going down a set of stairs so it is good as-is for me, but if I had busy kids racing up and down those stairs I'd be looking for a way to secure it at each step. Indeed its lack of adhesive quality makes it both dangerous and most unsafe as it crumples and creates folds with every step. It would be utterly unsafe for any elderly or young people to use.
