The Kidde Wireless Hardwired Smoke Detector, 10-Year Battery Backup, Voice Alerts, Photoelectric Sensor Wire-Free Interconnect Combination Alarm, model p4010ACSCO-W, is a wireless smoke detector that uses photoelectric sensor technology to detect visible fire particles (associated with smoldering fires) & an electrochemical sensor to detect CO gas. When smoke or fire is detected, an 85-decibel alarm will sound, the ring on the detector will turn red, & a voice alert will announce, "Fire! Fire!". The Kidde Wireless Smoke Alarm enables the extension of coverage & protection without any need for additional wiring. When one alarm sounds, they all do, providing an early warning against fire by dramatically increasing your ability to hear an alarm anywhere in your home, regardless of where the fire starts. The Kidde Wireless Smoke Detector is powered by a 120V wired power source with a 10-year lithium battery backup, which eliminates the need for battery replacements & provides coverage during a power failure. When the smoke alarm is at the end of its life span, the detector will announce, "Replace Alarm!" A test-hush button allows you to test the battery operations as well as silence nuisance alarms that may occur from cooking or shower steam. The Kidde Smoke Detector will chirp when it's time to replace the battery, however, an Ambient Light Sensing feature helps to prevent the alarm from chirping in dark conditions. **Q: If you have multiple units and they all go off, will hushing one unit turn them all off or do you have to hush every unit individually?**
A: When the alarms are going off, there is always one that is going off and setting off all of the others. WIth the P4010 wireless alarms, that originating alarm setting off all of the others will have a green light flashing every second while all of the alarms are going off.  This will be the alarm you will want to HUSH.  This is done intentionally so that you will examine the area where the alarm is before you hush the alarm and the system. 

These alarms also have a locate feature on them. From the owner's manual:

In an interconnected system (all units will be alarming together), a unit that detects smoke or CO and initiates an alarm is called the “initiating alarm unit.” Initiating alarm units will be flashing the Green LED every second during alarm. Depending on unit locations, and the location of the source of smoke or CO, it is possible to have more than one initiating unit. If you suspect a nuisance alarm situation, you can use this feature to help you locate the initiating alarm unit(s) in a wireless alarm interconnect system. Push the button on any non-initiating wireless unit, and ALL wireless units EXCEPT the initiating alarm unit(s) will silence for two minutes. You can use the LOCATE feature repeatedly until you find the initiating alarm unit(s), or the air has been cleared of the condition causing the alarm.

**Q: Can it run with out being hardwired in**
A: Hello. This alarm has to be hardwired in and the battery is only a backup battery.  It will definitely last more than a week but will not last the whole ten years on battery alone. Probably somewhere around weeks to months, possibly years. **Q: Scared of installing one of these. Any info about date of manu., etc, on bad units? The one I havw says "RevA"**
A: Mine lasted 5 months and then started having false alarms at all hours of the day or night. 3 days later another unit started doing the same thing. I’d get your money back if you can

Installed two of these wired smoke/CO detectors to replace old hardwired smoke alarms and added two additional wireless units along with several wireless smoke-only alarms. All quickly and easily interconnected during the setup process. Unlike some other commenters, there have been no false alarms. I got these for the 10 year sealed battery that is now required in my county and wanted the interconnect feature so all units will sound in the event of an alarm. The only negative is that the smoke-only units do not sound a CO alarm from an interconnected CO detector.

### ⭐ Frequent False Alarming

I don’t know what the deal is with these smoke alarms, but they have been terrible for us. We ordered 6 of them and placed throughout our house from the finished basement through the second floor bedrooms. Installation was easy enough and they connected to each other well. Things were fine for a couple months. Then, all of a sudden they started going off, usually at night and without any indication of fire. We contacted the company and were told to vacuum/wipe out the units as dust may cause them to go off. We did this to each one, but they continued to go off at night (usually multiple times). We contacted the company again and they sent new units. The false alarms STILL happened. It’s maddening, we have kids who wake up each time scared there is a fire and each time my husband has to walk around the house and pull down the alarms to make them stop. I’m not sure if humidity has something to do with this because the most false alarms seem to happen after it rains and at night when humidity is generally higher where we live (but we don’t exactly live in a very humid area to begin with, so I have no idea). We’ve driven ourselves crazy trying to figure out what the issue is, my husband is an engineer and he’s baffled. Based on our experience, we would not recommend these at all!!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Simple install, mix and match AC & Battery models in P4010* Range

The media could not be loaded. I was looking for something that would1) be able to interconnect to other modules,2) have both AC and Battery Models,3) have Combo Smoke/CO and Smoke only models in both power variants4) Interface to the SmartThings for my Alarm System and Smart Notification** A True 'Device to SmartThings' integration - NOT a Listener device that reacts when it 'hears' an audible alarm going offI could not find any other system that actually checks ALL those boxes. And for factor 4 taken by itself, there is only one other brand that achieves that, but does not meet the other requirements.However with this Kidde Series factors 1-3 are present out of the box and even the last part (SmartThings Integration) was actually easy to achieve with some extra parts.So I have Multiples of AC Combo, AC Smoke, DC Combo and DC Smoke - they all interconnect wirelessly and when one alerts they all go off.Now for the SmartThings part - I found a guide on SmartThings community on how to do that (search "Integrating Kidde Smoke/CO sensors into SmartThings") - the extra parts comprised a Kidde SM120X Relay, a Kidde CO120X Relay, a junction box and a pair of EcoLink Zwave Door/Window sensors - everything available right here on Amazon! I won't go into the details here, but it is a very simple install and you don't have to run any wires between modules - the only requirement is that you have at least ONE P4010AC* unit to connect the relay modules.The video shows the test function being activated on one Module and the Status showing on my SmartThings Screen (so from there I can receive notification to my Phone if I am not home, or have other Smart Actions, like turning on the lights etc in an event)The result is my home has gone from a mishmash of very much 'dumb' plain old AC Smoke units (about 30 yrs old!), some 9V Battery Smoke units (20 years old) and newer 10yr battery CO modules - NONE of which were interconnected, to a super-smart Interconnected system that very much meets todays standards.A very fun project to include the SmartThings Integration, however even without that, creating an interconnected Network of Detectors is very simple to achieve.Just to offer some clarification on some of the questions I see asked:The AC Modules (with battery backup) will NOT operate for 10 years without power being applied - estimated operation without AC is about a week I believe. (only intended to maintain operation for typical power outage situations) Get the DC modules if you can't provide AC Power - those WILL last 10 years (guaranteed to!)Interconnecting with other Kidde Alarms - ONLY the AC Modules can be connected by virtue of the hard-wire run to them - they cannot communicate wirelessly with other Modules that are not in P4010* Series. However the Battery Models will be part of the Network as long as there is an AC P4010* that has been physically connected to those non-P4010* series Models.Important to note that the Battery Models of the P4010DC* Series have no wired interconnect AT ALL and will ONLY interconnect to other P4010* Series (whether AC or DC)
