The sides are sloped so that it fits inside of the box below it tightly. If you cut it then it won’t fit into the box and you might get leakage. It comes with screw holes, but no screws. I chose to add sealant between the riser and the original basin but there is not as much flat surface contact between the riser and the basin as I expected. All in all though, it was exactly what I needed.
