Review: I've stumbled onto some secret cooking advantage that no one else seems to know about. - I own this Demeyere 5.5 Qt Dutch Oven and love it. I haven't touched my CI dutch oven since I got it. It's heavy where it needs to be, on the bottom, but is overall significantly lighter than any CI piece. It's so much easier to maneuver and wash. The bottom contains a 2mm layer of copper sandwiched between 2 thin layers of even more conductive silver, so it heats up much more quickly and evenly than CI. It works fine in the oven but especially on the stovetop, it is so superior to CI that I feel like I've stumbled into some secret cooking advantage that no one else seems to know about. I use it for soups, stocks, stews, braises, boiling pasta, Chef John at Food Wishes amazing southern style green beans, and anything else I would use a dutch oven or stockpot for. Oh, btw, the handles stay cool on the stovetop, unlike cast iron.

**Q: Would the 5qt be good for spaghetti?**
A: Yes. I use it to boil spaghetti and have also made my sauce in it as well. It’s my favorite piece. The lid also fits my 10.5 inch Atlantis fry pan.

**Q: Can someone please give me an actual dimensions of 8.9 qt pot? No hanles, no lid.**
A: The interior diameter is 9 3/8".  The exterior diameter at the base is 9 1/2".

**Q: Is the bottoms forged on ( is there a seam) or is seamless?**
A: There is no seam on the inside.

**Q: Product Dimensions: 9.4 x 8.7 x 4.7 inches? What's the diametor and height?**
A: 9.4 is the diameter and 4.7 is the height.  I don't know what the 8.7 refers to.This is a fabulous piece of cookware, and beautiful too.  I love it every time I cook with it!

I own this Demeyere 5.5 Qt Dutch Oven and love it. I haven't touched my CI dutch oven since I got it. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Not just a stock pot.

The best part about this entire line of pans is that they don't have that annoying rivet that food gets caked around on the inside of the pot, this line is completely smooth welded. This pot cooks better than any pan that I have ever used. It is a little heavy for a stainless steel pan but far less heavy than the cast iron I've used before. I really like how versatile this thing is, it might seem like it is just a stock pot but I find it lives up to the name of casserole pot really well. I often will sauté my garlic and onions, deglaze it and braise the remaining ingredients, then just throw it in the oven the same way I would a traditional glass casserole dish, but this makes everything come out evenly so unlike a casserole dish that I would have dirtied the edges are just as cooked as the center. Then just a soak overnight in water and some soap the next day its completely clean and looking like new again.
