Review: Good starting set up - Very good especially for entry or a 1st step in. The throttle can be a bit stiff. They're pretty stable and dont move unless you have them on an unstable or squishy surface and theyre pretty accurate to your inputs.. They have mounting points too. Theyre comfortable to use and the throttle even splits to allow for dual engine stuff. There isnt any setup outside of plugging it in and mapping buttons to what you prefer. They're pretty average size for the category so you can upgrade and swap to fancier things if you want later on. The stick is also swappable so you wont need a new base so long as the stick is compatible with the base. As for games, I used it in DCS and warthunder and it works perfectly fine for both. DCS auto recognizes it so some miner swaps for preference and you can jump right into it. Warthunder needed a bit more setup but I haven't had any issues in either game.
Review: buy this one to fly its worth it - let bad first the throttle has a little play between the 2 halves left to right ,,,, the rest so far is amazing took a little to get used to the position of the throttle 2 spin knobs top and bottom i use for vert thrust and horz thrust because the x52 has one on its side and that made it make more sense beyond that this is making my gaming so much better I have almost all elite daNGEROUS controls mapped and im only on M1 mode i still have M2 and S1 i could use,, would be extra nice if the throttle stiffness had a little more range between is easy movement and hard it starts at about medium stiff but i have read that will get easier over time so not really a complaint I have rather large hands and it feels nice fit not reaching for anything tiny hands may have a small reach issue but should be manageable ,, each half have 4 corner holes so you can mount it to a dest directly or buy a mount system starting at 59 bucks so not bad at all i used 3.5in wood screws attaches it to 7x9 in x1/2 in wood plates and then attached ttaht to the edge of my desk feels nice and can be moves other controlers have overly complex whole patterns so this is by far easier to mount I opted to follow another review and download g drivers system so i have the option to pre program all my buttons to keybinds this way they would be universal across any game i play but thus far i just mapped them within the game im playing as i learn what feels natural to me PLUG directly into the pc do not use a hub unless its a powered hub and high powered one at that if you cant avoid using a low powered hub go into the g software and make the RGB black or super dark so it draws less power and this will help avoid ghost inputs this is an ISSUE with MANY MANYY rgb devices so I do not fault this one easy plug n play usb and great great value

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Any changes in build quality vs saitek x56/ logitech x56?**
A: Apparently not. Very little time on my X56 (the "upgraded" gray model) and the twist/yaw on the stick has went out as well as the LED's. Less than 6 months of use out of it and very little use during that time even. Either spend more on a VKB or VirPil or spend less on a T16000m and have to likely replace it every so often. But I'd not pay this much to have to replace these on a regular basis.

**Q: Ive heard that the early models were prone to the throttle wires breaking. Has this been rectified?**
A: I bought this in January of 2019. It is currently the beginning of May 2021 and I have not had any sort of wiring problems with this hotas. The only problem I had was trying to use them with a USB 2.0 unpowered hub, which is actually specifically outlined in the manual that you should use a powered hub. Something along the lines of your motherboard trying to save power or it isn't able to supply enough power to both through an unpowered hub which results in the hotas gives you ghost inputs. I just plugged them straight into my motherboard after that and have not had a problem with it since.

**Q: Had the g x56 for 5 months, now experiencing ghosting input in the throttle quadrant. any fixes for this. i have heard a powered usb hub fixes it?**
A: I would advise getting an EXTERNAL powered USB 3.0 Hub.
If you're already having power issues onboard, then adding a hub to the motherboard isn't going to help much.

**Q: Why are you asking 400.00 when msrp is 249.00**
A: Its another casualty and lingering effect of the pandemic. Everyone went indoors, MS flight sim comes out, and the government hands out free money. This put huge strains on supply for a lof stuff, including HOTAS controls.

That said, if youre spending $400 american dollars, you might as well spend 400 euros for the Virpil MongooseCM3 throttle. I did, and while I am staunch advocate for Logitech (their products rarely fail me and when they do, their customer service has been amazing) this is of those specialty items better sourced from a company thay only builds gear for simulators, like Virpil or alternatively VKB.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fantastic HOTAS with a couple minor annoyances.
*by C***E on September 4, 2025*

Well where to start... This Hotas is great in some ways, but has some small problems/annoyances in some ways. The great: The HOTAS has a nice heavy build and seems very durable. The stick is very comfortable for me and the default tension seems to be about right for me. It is nice that it came with 4 springs to adjust the stick tension. Even though for now I am using the default spring, as the stick gets some heavier usage, it may require a new or tighter spring. The buttons are in pretty good arrangements and oh man are there a lot of them. I love the 2 thumb mini-sticks (one on the throttle and one on the main stick). They are very useful in my space games because I use one to strafing left/right/up/dawn, and I use the other to strafe forward and backward when coming in for landings and take-offs. The switches are great for things like landing gear, ship and engine power, cargo bay doors, comms channel, and etc. There are so many buttons/switches that I can't fill them all up, and then there are also all the top-hats and wheels, plus 3 modes as well. I am overly pleased with all the options the HOTAS has for configurations and bindings. Also, even though I don't use it, the Logitech software for the HOTAS has some configuration templates included for various games. The accuracy so far has been great for me, but it is still early on. If it holds up as well as my other Logitech items (rechargeable keyboard, wireless rechargeable mouse, camera, gaming headset) have, I will be overjoyed. The bad/slight irritations: The throttle tension is unbelievable, even when the tensioner is loosened all the way. It is due to the grease/lube that they have used. After the throttle sits a few minutes, it stiffens. If the throttle is moved back and forth a few times it loosens temporarily. I have seen some folks say they took it apart and removed the lube, I wouldn't do that since it 1) voids the warranty and 2) the lube will eventually start breaking down on its own and lead to the throttle loosening on its own. BUT, you will probably need to mount it to your desk unless you are using a mounting bracket solution. I just used some Command Strip picture hanging strips and it is not rock solid. The base of this thing is huge and THICK so beware of that fact of you have very limited space for it. The HOTAS is kind of heavy, but since my old HOTAS had big metal plates as a base, they actually weigh close to each other in my opinion. The throttle side does use a bit of power, so if you have a really cheap motherboard, you may need to buy a POWERED USB hub or a high dollar USB card. My MSI motherboard handles it fine, but it is one of their higher-end boards. The only other point minor annoyance is that one of the toggle switches is in a place that kind of gets blocked a bit by the throttle when the throttle in a certain position, but it can still be accessed if you need to use it. Overall, I am overjoyed so far with this HOTAS. Coming from a Thrustmaster to the Logitech, this one is a vast upgrade, and the price was much better than any of the other brands. Plus, there are many more configuration options on this HOTAS than the competition.
