I have 10+ of these operating in pfsense boxes. In fact as I type this the ingress ethernet and egress ethernet the packets flow through are both of this NIC type. They will appear as: em0 em1 em2 .. (Also work on Opensolaris if anyone is curious) **Q: Does it come with a low profile bracket?** A: No, I purchased 3 of them and there was not any low profile brackets. I've been using it with Ubuntu 16.04 for a few months now. **Q: If I don't have anymore available PCIe x1 slots, will this work in a PCIe x16 slot?** A: You can use a PCIe x1 card, or a PCIe x4 card in a PCIe x16 slot. The first 18 pins are all the same.
