Gross and smokes from old grease when I plugged it in. Very disappointing!!! ### ⭐⭐ Not so good *by S***N on July 27, 2019* I think 2 stars is pretty generous. I WILL be able to use this to cook for my toddler. You can make a pretty thick waffle but pancakes are tiny and the panini plate is just big enough for a slice of Wonder Bread or similar. Works great for a grilled cheese or panini if it's small.The grill takes about 3 minutes to warm up. Once ready you can cook a waffle or pancake in less than 5 minutes but it's trial and error. The lights, which I'll cover a little later, don't indicate when your food is ready. Grilled cheese or panini takes 5 minutes or so. The recipes in the instruction manual don't give cook time for anything but paninis.There is no way to turn this thing off except by unplugging. LIFTING LID DOES NOT CUT THE POWER; IT CONTINUES TO HEAT UP WITH THE LID OPEN. This makes no sense as the instructions tell you to let it cool 5 minutes after cooking before starting something new yet neglect to tell you that unplugging it is the only way to let it cool. Instructions also say to not run it continuously for more than 15 minutes, SO MAKE SURE TO UNPLUG IT! The outer case is plastic and I'd assume melting is a concern.There are 2 lights on the unit, an orange one and an orange one. I think they're supposed to be green and red but they use an orange bulb under the colored green and red plastic so it just comes up as orange. Anyway, the "green" light comes on when it's warming up, turns off when ready to cook. It will keep clicking on and off as it keeps the grill at temperature, so it's not telling you when your waffle is ready. The "red" light stays on the whole time and I guess is telling you it's plugged in?Cleanup is easy but you need to wait 20 minutes or more before it's cool to the touch. Hopefully you unplugged it!So if you're cooking for one, preferably one small child, you might find this handy. I would not recommend it otherwise.***UPDATE***I'm finding cook times to be too inconsistent to replace my waffle maker. The first time cooking waffles they were taking less than 5 minutes. The next time I cooked waffles it was taking over 10 minutes per waffle. Once it got up to temperature and the light went off I added batter. For the first 5 minutes the "green" light stayed off (I timed it), so it wasn't staying at temperature. I had to wait for the light to come back on, then go off for several minutes, then come back on and cook for a couple more minutes before my waffles were done.
