Parts must be sealed after blackening. Use our Penetrating Sealer or Caswell Sealer. Mix 1 part Concentrate with 9 parts distilled water. 1 quart of concentrate makes 2.5 gallons of blackening solution. Parts Coverage - 600 to 1200 sq. ft. of surface area blackened per gallon of concentrate. Immerse the part in the mixed Black Oxide Solution and swirl around for between 30 seconds and 5 minutes. It is non magnetic. Will this black oxide harm the metal in any way or will it just not have an affect?** A: If it’s non magnetic, then this will not work. Whether it would harm the metal is dependent on what sort of metal it is. **Q: Will this work on a steel putter head?** A: Yes, as long as it is carbon steel. If you don’t like the final finish, it is as easy as sanding the putter back to its original state. I hope this helps. **Q: Once sealed, can the oil be removed to avoid atracking dust? Looking for something to restore typewriter linkages, and they must be assembled "dry".** A: This product is just the blackener. The sealer is not included. It's a 1:9 mix. One part blackening, 9 parts distilled water. As "stuff/contaminants" drop out of solution it may take 3 or 4 minutes. Filtering helps (400 sieve).
