The magnet that holds it in place is super strong. If you intentionally want to remove the case, you can. But otherwise I don’t see the case coming off on its own. I like that it covers the front and back of the iPad but leaves the side edge accessible for charging, using the actual buttons, and for magnetically attaching your Apple Pencil. Great quality and easy to use. I also like that there’s a flap that secures the Apple Pencil while attached to the iPad.
