Ich habe mich für den Funksender entscheiden, da der Anhänger hier kleiner und leichter als bei der GPS-Variante ist. Außerdem kann das Signal auch in einem geschlossenen Raum gefunden werden (z.B Garage) Ich habe die Peilsender nun seit 2,5 Wochen. Ich habe sie an Sicherheitshalsbändern ohne Probleme befestigen können. Da meine beiden Kater keine großen Fans der Halsbänder sind und sie manchmal "verlieren", hatte ich schon 4mal die Gelegenheit, die Suchfunktion zu testen. 😆🙄 Und ich bin begeistert. Man muss am Anfang der Suche an den verschiedenen Standorten etwas warten, da es sein kann, dass das Signal erst nach einer Minute erfasst wird. The tracker device has a standard circular 2032 battery in it. You remove 2 screws and the circular battery can be popped out. There is a 'charging station' and 2 batteries that comes with the Girafus. What you do is you put the dead battery you just took out into the charging station and remove the already charged battery and put it into the tracker device. This way you always have a rotation of batteries going. I'm finding I get about 3-4 weeks of time before needing to swap the batteries. (if you track more then you will obviously exhaust the batteries faster) Another note - when you put the dead battery into the charger its takes about 2 hours or so to charge. Also, there is a button on the front of the tracking device that you can press to 'test' the battery in the tracker. If its working you will see a solid red light illuminate on the tracking device. I know, a little wordy here - didn't want to leave anything out - Hope this info helps. **Q: Can you track on an actual map such as Google map?** A: Gps trackers can use a map, but may be off by a city block or so. They are best for getting a general location of something big from very far away. Most use an app, but be sure to figure in app fees when price-shopping. Rf (radio frequency) trackers are more precise (so you know if your cat is under the bush right in front of you or right behind you, in addition to tracking from full 800m range. In my opinion, rf finders are best for pets (except maybe a horse) and GPS is best for your kid's car or bicycle (or a horse). For a large dog that tends to explore a particularly large area, rf and GPS each have their benefits. So, which to pick probably depends on whether or not your dog hides (in which case, get rf) or comes to you if you call from nearby (in which case, get GPS). But remember, they may not be able to come when called if injured (which is why I'd probably still go with rf for a big dog). For cats, nothing beats an rf tag. GPS would be useless for my sneaky cat named Tesla. He is shockingly smart. (Pun intended) **Q: Do the batteries on the collars turn off and on automatically? do they only turn on when tracking?** A: No the transmitter on the collar is always on and the battery need to be recharged every 20-30 day’s . The receiver you turn on only when you need tracks your cat. **Q: I received this item but notice the lights aren't coming on when the batteries are installed in the charger. Is there another step that I should try?** A: I haven’t quite figured that out either. I put a couple of dead rechargeable batteries in the charger and both had a green light. After awhile there is no light. So it seems like there is no light when the battery is fully charged. Sometimes the light will be red but after it charges there is no light. So my guess is that the batteries are charged when there is no light.
