We didn’t know when someone was come up or not. Also, we live out in the country, it helps seeing porcupines, raccoons and stray animals. It also gives me alerts when my kitty is at the door to come in. It also has an alarm if you need it and sound to talk to someone outside when you are in the house or out running errands.
