Review: Not cheap but excellent product - Very easy to handle and the Bluetooth connection with the mobile is a very appreciated characteristic. Sound quality is excellent
Review: Very disappointing new headset from Jabra - I have been a user of Jabra Pro top of the range headsets for several years now (model 9470) in my home office for mobile/landline/Webex/Zoom conference calls). They have always performed very well, but it was time to take a look at new models. My father is now becoming a little deaf and he is finding it difficult to hear my voice. I was not able to adjust the volume of the call when using my mobile via Bluetooth, so I wanted to find a better headset that would improve the situation. I bought 2 Jabra Engage 75 stereo headsets from desertcart Warehouse and both were faulty. One had a faulty microphone that made my voice sound very quiet and gravelly, the other had slightly distorted 'ringing' sound to the audio produced by the earpieces. I also found that the call would drop out occasionally and the other party couldn't hear my voice for a few seconds before it came back. I was very near to the base station (maybe 5 metres or so). I contacted Jabra tech support who told me to try a factory reset on the devices, which did not improve the problems. The Good - Nice headset design. Quite light and comfortable and more sturdy than previous models. - Improved controls over the difficult to operate touch-sensitive volume control of the older model. The physical mute button on the mic is a good idea. - New Jabra Direct software for controlling settings on the unit is much better than the old 'Jabra Suite' software. The Bad - Quality control issue, obviously, as two units had different faults. - ABYSMAL user interface menu design on the base station. The design has an odd +/- symbol on the menu to move the selections left and right until the desired option is displayed in the middle, then you have to press a tick symbol to select that option. The menu system only allows scrolling down - there doesn't seem to be an 'up' option. The previous model equipped with a touch screen was MUCH more intuitive. - There is still no option to increase mic volume on mobile calls connected via Bluetooth. There is only an option to increase mic volume on landline connected calls. Not sure why this is. My father could hardly hear me and reported that even the new headset without the faulty mic was less audible than my previous Jabra Pro models. - HORRIBLE docking connector. The dock uses a micro-USB connector for power and I found that it was difficult to locate it back in it's cradle without fiddling around for a while. The previous model had a proprietary connector with gold pins and a magnet to hold the headset in place and although it would occasionally fall off it was easier to locate the correct position than the new version. Summary and Recommendations Ultimately, I felt disappointed by the new Jabra Engage headsets. Even with the re-design, I felt that the base station was a bit 'plasticky' and lower quality than previous models. The awful menu navigation is terrible, and such bad UI (User Interface) design is unforgivable in this day and age. Luckily, I found out that Sennheiser has just released a new range of premium headsets and bought one of those instead. I went for the top of the range SDW 5066. This headset is of incredible quality and really looks and feels worth the money. The cradle works really well, controls are excellent and the device has a rotary mic volume control on the bottom of the base unit! This is exactly what I need, and surely it would make sense for every headset manufacturer to do this? I cannot understand why Jabra has not. I tested the unit out on my father and gradually increased the mic volume control on the rotary know from the default of 4 up to 5 and he can hear me perfectly! (The dial goes up to 9, so plenty of range to go if his hearing worsens). The controls and indicator lights on the base station such as mute are really nice to use. Overall, I am really pleased with the Sennheiser. It's the Roll's Royce of the headset world The sound quality is excellent and I don't think it could be bettered in any way.

### ⭐⭐⭐ "out of range" "out of range"
*by A***U on 4 January 2020*

Really good headset. Main use it with Skype for business via USB. When using Bluetooth it randomly keeps saying "out of range" when I am sat right next to it, which causes me to switch output devices on my mobile to continue the call and missing some of the conversation when can be an inconvenience.
