I also use it to soak the milk wand and run a fair bit through the steam wand itself to loosen up the knob (a known problem of the BES860's). If you have a stiff knob, this will loosen it up quick smart. Simply run and twist on/off a dozen times to release the crud out of the mechanism. After use its immediately obvious the machine performs better. A good post-use cleanup of the hopper/head/etc is necessary. Don't get this on your hands... its NASTY. I also use the CAFETTO group head cleaner periodically. Both ensure I get long use of an expensive machine.
