If your computer is new enough, an NVMe drive would be the best option. Otherwise, a SATA SSD would be the next best option. All three are available right here on Amazon. **Q: Is the 2tb (st2000dm008) internal hard drive cmr or smr?** A: I can't speak to SMR vs. CMR but since I see someone said this is unsuitable as a boot drive I will note that I have used this as the boot drive with a dual Windows 10-Xubuntu 20.04 OS install and it has worked fine. I personally think the load/unload cycle count is set way too liberally, it unloads way too quickly IMO but that is easy enough to deal with and even if it isn't dealt with the drive has about 3-5 years of load/unload cycles built into it and that is worst case where the computer is on constantly (my use case).
