We were there for 5 weeks as part of a jungle training package. In true military fashion, it seems enough people felt that being in the jungle in the middle of monsoon season was the perfect time to go (‘winning’). Three weeks of that time was actually embedded in the bush sleeping out on hammocks. It poured down. When I say pour, I mean it literally comes down with so much force, you have to almost shout to someone a couple of feet away to be heard. Some of the heaviest rainfalls I’ve ever seen. And this poncho, was absolutely bombers. I stayed completely dry. It was comfortable too, without getting too hot or clammy either. Sometimes I used it to go over my hammock at night, tied on & as a cover to stop the rainfall getting into my space because the military did not provide hammocks with rain covers & the military issued ponchos are about as waterproof as a second hand tea bag.
