A: No you just drop them in

so the ideal way to use is take a couple oz of water and use 2-3 drop per sample. This will make the most accurate reading with this version of testing.

There were two directions to follow, one said 2 drops to water being tested and the other said 2 to 3 drops to 2 tsp of water. I did both and the color of the water didn’t match anything on the chart. There wasn’t a clear tube included in the package which ended up being a hassle.
