After looking at a number of possible choices, I selected this one.Turns out to be a good choice in terms of functions, features, and price. Having a choice of colors is a definite plus for me as this clock is for my 11 year old daughter who wanted to replace her old clock in her bedroom with a digital clock, and green is her favorite color.All the functions and settings options are pretty straightforward such that you do not really need printed instructions. The printed instructions it comes with exemplify this as they literally told me nothing that was not obvious from just looking at the setting buttons on the back.The clock digits are nice and large such that you could read them from across the room. In normal mode, there is no backlight so your digits appear like standard black on gray LCD displays that have been around forever. With the backlight turned on, you get a nice soothing pale green backlight... with is mellow, but may be bright enough to disturb some people trying to go to sleep. This is where the dim backlight comes in.. as it is perfect for low level nighttime display light that can be read easily but is not bright enough to disrupt sensitive sleepers. The large snooze button across the top of the clock also activate the back light for 5 seconds... for nighttime checking of time when needed.The only downside to many clocks on Amazon, including this one is the alarm feature. Having to turn the alarm on and off using a slide switch on the back side of the clock is poor design. There should be an off button on the top that shuts off the alarm when you wake up... but since my daughter does not need the alarm feature... this was not a factor in my decision to purchase. Also, the alarm is pretty weak... but again.. I don't need an alarm.My daughter thought it was really cool that the clock includes a temperature sensor and readout as well.I have no idea yet how long the clock will run on the batteries (3 AAA, not included), but if I find it annoying in the future, this clock is certainly easy for me to modify to install an external power source... so I'll just let it run and see how long it goes on a set of batteries.The two improvements that would be great for this clock would be to include and external power jack and to include an off button for the alarm on the top of the clock. Of course these would add more cost to the clock and make it more expensive, but it would also improve two key shortcomings of this clock. Thing is... these clocks are all manufactured in bulk in large assembly plants in China and then wholesaled to various parties who then brand them and resell them.... so the supplier here is dependent on design changes by the factories, and probably cannot directly influence feature improvements that much.... other then branding labels and color choices. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Initial thoughts - to be updated *by H***H on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on February 24, 2016* These are just my initial thoughts at the unboxing. 1st of all, even though fufilled by Amazon, so packaging is very nice, the original packaging this comes in I like because there is a protective sleeve around the clock w/in its original box. 2nd observation = the battery compartment lid is very tight to get off, so be patient. 3rd observation = the area for 2 AAA batteries to be inserted = VERY TIGHT!! I put the single one in first and then attempted to get the remaining 2 in their stacked position - I was at work and the alarm kept going off whilest I struggled to get those last 2 batteries in...rather embarrassing. Recommendation: put in the 2 stacked ones 1st (and yes you will be wrestling for a bit) and then put the last one in its single area and avoid alarms going off (even thought I believed I had the alarm turned off) :)Numbers are big = I like! Love the bright pink! Changing the temp from C to F was a bit tricky. Once everything else is set and locked, then press the middle round button that says temp = changed :)Alarm is loud as my office mates can attest. :POnce I have a chance to check out the light and its sensor, I will update, but so far I am pleased :)UPDATE - light sensor is GREAT! Upgrading to 5 stars! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars WHAT time did you say it was?? *by L***T on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on August 23, 2018* I opened the package last night just before I went to bed - found I had misplaced the instructions - said the heck with it and looked at the back panel. It took me about 2-1/2 minutes to set the clock and the alarm (and I am NOT known for my mechanical ability). This morning at the appointed time it began to beep - loud enough to wake me, but not loud enough to make me want to throw it across the room, which is my usual response to any sound occurring before noon, Pacific Daylight Time.I hit the snooze button 3 or 4 times, partly to make sure it worked properly, but mostly because of that “before noon” thing. I finally said a few words I will not repeat here, and turned the alarm OFF (a procedure different enough from hitting the snooze button to make it unlikely that even a person in my state of unconsciousness could confuse the two actions - one of my primary reasons for choosing this clock).
