Quite a bit of effort to get the top off and the hanger is all but worthless, unless you have a branch of a very specific size. It is constructed from very cheap materials and is, consequently, very much overpriced. Is it squirrel proof? No, but it is squirrel resistant. If they shake it hard, or knock it down, it is dinner time. Doves can't feed on it, but there is a learning curve before the desirable birds adapt to the challenge of getting to seed that a squirrel can't. So, manufacturer, let's make it out of things you didn't find in the garage that are more weather resistant. Make it easier to load and provide a more suitable hanger for a wider variety of applications.
