Unfortunately uou have to use their balls ONLY! Metal bats work great! **Q: Can you hit these with a plastic or foam bat? Is aluminum better?** A: Plastic bat would be better. This is definitely a beginner pitcher. More for todlers. The balls are soft. I bought this for my 5yo and he outgrew it in about 2 months. Does.not throw far or hard. **Q: can wiffle balls be used?** A: Where are you finding cheap replacement balls? Replacement balls for this are $17 for two balls ($8.50 each!). **Q: What is everyone using for replacement balls? The official ones are $9 each.
