I'm 5' 8", 157#, and bought an XL. I like my clothing loose and this fits perfectly. Has 4 ample pockets outside and 1 inside pocket. The length is great; covers my hips and upper thighs. This is the warmest jacket ever had - even with bitter winds, I truly feel NO cold whatsoever. I feel cold easily, so this jacket is wonderful. Only 2 "cons". 1. This is a heavy jacket, not a lightweight. But you'll be glad to have it while shoveling snow or other outdoor activities when it's near 0 degrees and bitter winds. You won't feel it at all. 2.
