I want to like them for my retropie setup, but they're just too buggy and unpredictable.

***Edited Note*** I am changing my review from a 1 star to 3 stars as I don't think they're a complete waste of money now that I've gotten used to their quirks. I have also updated the review.---I purchased two sets of these and have all 4 plugged into a Raspberry Pi 3B+ running Retropie 4.4. First issue you are going to have is getting them recognized. The USB adapters will be seen as 4 controllers, but none of the controllers would be recognized. The solution to this is to press the 3 buttons: SELECT + START + D-PAD DOWN, simultaneously. This will pair them to a dongle. There is an issue with this though as I am constantly needing to be re-pair them, and from what I can tell, they seem to jump between receivers. Which means you are constantly turning all of them on to find out which controller is p1, p2, etc. What I've also noticed is that the Raspberry Pi recognizes the controllers themselves as opposed to the dongles when assigning a controller. So if a battery runs out and you need to switch controllers, it's not as simple as swapping dongles out. There is a retropie package for this, otherwise it requires a restart. The biggest issue, however, is that I get random 'A' button presses. I think these are coming from the receivers (maybe interference on the 2.4Ghz band?) and not the controllers themselves, as it happens no matter what controller I'm using. The problem is that the A is the button that Retropie uses to enter games. So here's what normal usage looks like for me:1. Start the Retropie and grab a controller, press SELECT+START+DN to sync it if it won't sync.2. Play for a bit and leave it on.3. Come back to a random game being played because of the overactive A buttons.4. Turn on every controller and have to re-pair them a lot of the time to find the p1 controller so I can SELECT+START out of the game.5. Rinse and repeat. These controllers are fairly priced for wireless, but they have too many quirks to be called good controllers. Unfortunately, I bought this for Thanksgiving for the kids and can't really return them since I don't have time to get new ones, so I'm stuck with them. That said, the seller did reach out to me to offer compensation for my troubles which I appreciated.I previously had the wired ones and they worked perfectly. I originally said that if I still had them, I would prefer them over the wireless controllers, even with the added inconvenience. That is no longer true. Now that I know their quirks, I'm okay with them.Lastly: I have no noticed tremendous lag. NES games feel like they lag a lot, but SNES games feel tight - so I'm going to attribute the lag to the emulator I'm using. For wireless controllers, they work decently.---Ultimately, I would recommend these controllers if you want that retro feel. That said, you can pick up DualShock 2 controllers (PS3) for less money and they are fantastic bluetooth controllers with the right layout for retro gaming, but they also include all the buttons needed for PSX and N64 emulation.

RPi3 lakka emulator - works great!

*by A***R on Reviewed in the United States on October 28, 2018*

I would prefer a bit more weight to them but overall they are just as I remember my old snes controllers. Buttons feel smooth and responsive, battery life has been fantastic, and they work just great. When I first got them one would not pair with the usb dongle but after an email with the seller I was given reset instructions and all is great now. Pros: battery life, buttons feel authentic, works with RPi3 lakka build perfect. Cons: no instructuins included, would like a bit more weight. Overall: I would highly recommend for RPi3 retroarch emulator build.

    Don't waste your money!

*by E***S on Reviewed in the United States on January 29, 2019*

These controllers are extremely suspect and unreliable. I've purchased 2 sets of these and both have been huge disappointments. With the first set, one of the controllers wouldn't ever pair with either of the USB dongles that were provided. I was able to return the set and get a replacement. Initially, both of the remaining sets worked great. But it wasn't very long before at least 2 of the 4 controllers I have turned into bricks. Everything was working great until I had to recharge a couple of them. Once they were fully recharged, both no longer connect to their previously paired dongle and won't go into pairing mode to reset. The red LED just comes solid on immediately after powering it up and stays solid on no matter what. I've seen other reviews and posts suggestion some special button combination to put them into pairing mode (other than pressing the Start button once they are powered up and looking for connection mode), but no dice. 2 of the 4 are no useless. Save yourself the time and hassle and try something else.
