However, the author reveals numerous other necessary business expenses-- toward the back of the book. Also, I really hate this book because the author is determined to degrade the work of photographers. She constantly states in the book to not pay for photos. I suggest not paying for her book. This author assumes an aspiring model has a camera and knows how to use it-- alone--and someone else is going to pay for prints or whatever else is needed. Even drugstore prints cost money. This includes those from digital cameras. If the aspiring model doesn't have a camera then someone else must help take the photos. So, unless a close family member or friend is willing to volunteer their camera, time and pay for prints, why does the author insist on not paying for this service? Even a small fee is not enough to cover these expenses. So, even though the type of photos suggested are less difficult compared to many others, certain guidelines should be met. Therefore, I find it insulting to not suggest asking someone from your church, a classmate, or for a referral to help take the suggested photos. People pay for passport photos, ID photos and other services. So, why not help a respectable photographer by paying for a few good photos? Also, why do some people insist on degrading the work of photographers? I think everyone who does honest work should be fairly paid. In my opinion, paying $50 or even $100 for photos to help launch a career is not a scam, or a rip off. Even the author admits that the photos submitted should be periodically updated. She even dares to say a photographer should not use the photos for their portfolio. So, does this know-it-all jerk just want photographers to be slaves? Digital photography and marketing requires a camera, computer with internet, some software and maybe a photo printer, ink and paper. This all cost more than $20. Even taking a cheap camera directly to the drugstore to make prints cost money, and, I bet anyone who is serious about modeling will need more than $20 in prints and stationary for marketing. Thank you for reading my comments. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great Book for Starting Up *by J***K on Reviewed in the United States on August 7, 2012* I believe that this book showed just about everything that needs to be known (keep in mind that you should still read other book/s on modeling as well). But as a start-up book I believe that this shows so many things that go unsaid in the others. Although, you can say the same thing for certain other books that aren't seen in this book. My main point being, read this entire book before ever applying anything. Wait until the second read through before doing that. It's a great book that people should definitely buy though. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ helpful book *by E***M on Reviewed in the United States on July 23, 2011* I found the Kindle version of this book useful, assuming what she says is true (I haven't put her recommendations to the test). I am somewhat disappointed that she doesn't address specialty modeling at all (hand models, foot models) which is what I'm looking into pursuing.
